The coilers are gonna win it this year. We should prepare ourselves emotionally for this inevitability

Yeah - that will be a big hurdle for them.rats19 wrote: ↑Sun May 25, 2025 3:56 pmYou think they will get past the panthers?Cousin Strawberry wrote: ↑Sun May 25, 2025 3:02 pm The coilers are gonna win it this year. We should prepare ourselves emotionally for this inevitability
IF - and I mean IF they win the Cup, I will accept it on the terms of "the Cup returning to Canada" to justify it.

I notice HNIC doesn't seem to care about the Cup returning to Canada ever since their precious Leaves laid yet another egg.Cornuck wrote: ↑Sun May 25, 2025 4:23 pmYeah - that will be a big hurdle for them.rats19 wrote: ↑Sun May 25, 2025 3:56 pmYou think they will get past the panthers?Cousin Strawberry wrote: ↑Sun May 25, 2025 3:02 pm The coilers are gonna win it this year. Cats vs Oil would be epic.

I was convinced after Game 7 of the Finals last year the Oil were destined to win it within the next couple years. At this point I'd be very surprised if it's not this year. I was not impressed with the Stars at all last year in their series against the Oil (hell, we were better) and it's looking just as one-sided so far. The only way they'll beat them is if Oettinger steps up bigtime and Skinner does his Skinner thing. Just like last year it's looking like the opposite.
The edge the Panthers should have is in their heads. While the Oil believe they can win it all, the Cats already know they can. That's a big hurdle for the Oilers to overcome, but, they will be hungrier and got home ice. Ultimately this will be the difference.
I've already accepted it last year and I'm totally OK with it. A Canadian team is bound to win it sooner or later and it definitely won't be us for possibly a decade the way things are looking, so it might as well go to the best (two) player(s) in the world whether you like them or not. McDavid's too good to go this long without a Cup. I actually don't mind him, more so if he cracked a joke once in a while (dude's way too serious). If anything I think I might have a harder time watching Stech and Pods hoist it, not because I don't like these guys but don't think I have to explain why. They got a lot of guys who raise their games and produce consistently in the playoffs and now the rest of their team game is rounding out and they're playing the right way at the most critical time. Unless they completely fold the rest of the way I don't have a problem saying they deserve it.

While watching the Final Four, do you feel the Canucks are Final Four ready next season and if not why the rush? As Blobbee says - park your money off shore until next season’s UFA group.
The Canucks are a few seasons away from Final Four worthy, just as when UFA Hughes has signed either with us or another team. Interesting challenge’s ahead for the baldy newts.

Why the rush? You just answered that question: The Team Captain's march to free agency.Chef Boi RD wrote: ↑Tue May 27, 2025 6:44 am While watching the Final Four, do you feel the Canucks are Final Four ready next season and if not why the rush? The longer management waits to make moves to get the team back into contention, the harder they are making things for themselves to successfully pitch to Quinn to stay long-term; the more risk they are taking that he may bolt. You don't have to get inside Quinn's head to understand that the sooner he sees management making progress with the roster, the more comfortable he would be staying in Vancouver.
I don't think they necessarily need to make every move this summer to make them Final Four-worthy, but getting a contender-worthy 2C would be a critical first step.
