The Swiss are bringing in Niederreiter!
They already have Hischier, Fiala and Meier.

Half decent crew.
Not on par with Canada or Sweden, but still.

And it looks like the Latvians are going to reach the quarterfinals!
As long as they do not lose in regulation to Austria, they're in! :D

I do have a soft spot for the Latvians. They have the best and loudest fans in the hockey world, and we've had a handful of good Latvians playing for Björklöven. Right now we have a very promising guy, Bruno Osmanis. Just 18, he has mostly played with our juniors in the top Swedish junior league, where he was our best points scorer with 37 points in 31 games, but he also got to play 27 out of 52 games with the real team.

He is available in the draft this year and expected to go in the second or third round.

Sweden vs Canada tonight! Or, I guess noonish in BC.

Canada lost to Finland on penalties last night, Saros was outstanding in goal, so I guess the Canadians will have a lot of frustration and anger to take out on the Swedes tonight. Should be a good game! 8-)

Misery Guts should be along soon talking about how HC sucks, Crosby is washed, the team was riddled with cowards, and it's somehow Gillis's fault.

This is kind of awkward.

With Denmark's win, Sweden is the only Nordic country to lose against Canada in this tournament...

On the other hand, we can still win gold!

Had a great time at the quarter finals in Stockholm last night! 8-)

Well, USA vs Finland was not that exciting. It was pretty bad hockey, to be honest.
The Finns played good defence, had more possession, but couldn't finish.
Then the US got a few lucky calls from the refs and scored, and when the Finns started to panic the Americans could step up and were actually the better team in the third period. Neither team played well though.

The next game was more fun! Sweden completely dominated the Czechs! A lot more speed and accuracy in that game, from both teams, but the Swedish D kept the Czechs on the outside. Nylander has arrived now and played well, but it was Leo Carlsson and Lucas Raymond that were the heroes of the night with two goals each. Zibanejad, who missed the game vs Canada due to a stomach flu, was back on the ice and seemed to be fine.

Also unfortunate that Canada was eliminated.
Heading to Tuscany tomorrow and will be hanging out with a Canadian couple there.
I was hoping we could watch a Sweden vs Canada final together over a few beers. :scowl:

Btw, Garland scored a goal and was named best player on the US team in their QF against Finland!

To who? The Dane players and fans were through the roof. Who exactly should be embarrassed? Was the other team not trying to win. Did Canada not show up. I surprised, shocked even.... embarrassed is an odd reaction. Janik Hansn hasnt put down that drum of Ackevik for two days.
