I'm just waiting on any (official) news that will get me excited about next season.

Like Willander signs a contract?

Why have ridiculous rules in place that alienate proapects? If they hit their bonuses, shouldn't we be happy to pay that?

These guys are just as fucked as the ones that were fucked before them

I'm afraid we'll have to wait until the draft for that. At that point, management either uses the pick, or will have traded it away. Either outcome will reveal where management is going this summer.

I'd hate to be in their shoes. They're counting on their highest-paid player to come back to form and their Vezina-calibre goalie to be able to play a full season. Do they bet on that happening, or do they hedge their bets? Do they go for it and build out the top 6? Do they go for a retool?

Whatever happens to that pick will likely define this franchise for a few years.

In the meantime, they could get Willander on board, FFS.

Everyone hear what Allvin told seasons holders about his team's preparation for last year?

No, what did he say?

I tried but listening to that automaton drone away is painful for me. Can you score me a pain free alternative summary?

In a nutshell Allvin out and out confirmed that J.T. Miller came into the 2024-25 season in great shape and fully physically and mentally prepared to (while also expecting to) build on the previous years successes with an eye on being a part of this team's (and his) continued growth towards an opportunity to make a run at a Cup.

Allvin point blank stated that "some of" the younger (than Miller) group didn’t train as diligently or arrive nearly as prepared nor dedicated to build on their first place finish and 2 round post season run.

A comment was made that some of the younger players thought the path would be easy moving forward.

Confirmation was provided that there has been Miller and EP issues for as many as 4 years (so pre Miller extension) and the lack of prep going into last season was the straw that finally broke JT.

Ultimately the end result message was that the story on what ended up happening was written before the season even started.

RoboSwede praised Miller's preparation, his ability as a hockey player and as a human being while continuing the Canuck Brass post season message, that being lack of prep by certain individuals being counted on as leaders and play drivers.

Thanks Donny.

It seems, in hindsight, they should've chosen differently

If I had to guess why they kept Petey, I would say they figured Petey was younger and had a higher ceiling. Perhaps they figured last season was Miller's ceiling and he was the most depreciable asset so they loved to love him, hated to trade him, but traded him anyway.

Not sure what other 'younger players' there were aside from Petey. Hoglander reported in phenomenal shape IIRC. Boeser? I think this, perhaps, was a smoke screen to keep folks from pinpointing on Petey.

Petey got a lotta proving to do.

So they keep the problem and get rid of the non problem? How in the fuck did you come to that? I’m at a compete lost with this management group, it’s no wonder Tocchet took the high road,

That Dude yes....

And...

....why sign both of them as they did knowing there was an issue like this (I have rumored bad news on this as well if you like)?

Their roi on either would have been higher had they:

1 - moved earlier

2 - dealt with it prior to it becoming National News

So they gave the vault keys to a guy they knew didn’t have the required level of commitment (going back years) and then traded the guy who did and was leading the way and setting the pace.

What. The. Fuck.
Somewhere in NW BC trying (yet again) to trade a(nother) Swede…..
