If Van does trade Hughes, hopefully it's to the Siberia Ice Dogs or somewhere equally far away.
Well Colorado did trade Rantanen to Carolina originally.

Unforeseen nightmare, him ending up in Dallas.

Still, serves 'em right, they didn't HAVE TO trade him, the cheep fucks.

Hopefully MacKinnon demands a trade to Vancouver in response. :D

Hence the Siberia comment. So he can't find his way back to the Western Conference!

That call with 4 minutes left was bullshit. I'm shocked nobody snapped on that ref. Yes it's a penalty all season long and even in the playoffs.... at times. Not in a 2 - 2 game in Game 7 of a war at 56 min. Jamie Benn went down like Gentle Ben. Drury dragging him to the ice is like a squirrel yanking down a lion.

Let them play the game. Garbage horseshit call. Let the people that have talent decide it........fucking zebras.

Dude is Jamie Benn still on your hate list? He's building his HHOF resume. Almost there. He apparently was a quality MLB prospect. I so appreciate multiple sport athletes.,Dave Winfield was drafted in three sports. Bo's the GOAT. Deion was ok. Bryan Jordan was equal. Tom Glavine played hockey and was a stellar pitcher. Clark Gillies and Bobby Bourne were also MLB material but chose hockey instead. I think Jethro's daughter married the Dennis Miller wannabe.... aka Justin Bourne. Hopefully she didn't have Clark's beard.

Wids..... your thoughts?

Makar was not his normal self this series (no excuses, Stars did not have Heiskanen) but there were some obvious on ice miscues and incorrect choices of note made on a few occasions.

Injured or just human (or after MacKinnon the Avs just aren't that good in support as Cuz claims) I do not know but the Delta between he and Hughes in my mind has now narrowed considerably.

It was not huge to begin with but I had Makar 1 and Hughes 1A.

Maybe not anymore.

Makar was spectacular at 4 Nations, he could be a little burned out

I am fairly sure the refs called that late cheese exclusively to continue staring at that bimbos funbags behind DeBoer for another round

And I stand by my claim on the AVS. They're mid AF after Mack, Mack and maybe Toews.

The Avs best days could be behind them, shoulda given Rantanen what he wanted, he’s a beast, they miss him. He’s like the Finnish Kucherov

Yeah, agreed, he was happy there, surprised a "friendly" deal couldn't be worked out.

Speaking of mid, not so sure about their netminding either.

At the time, the rumored ask was Draisaitl money ($14M). He signed in Dallas for $12.5M. With Nate making $12.6M and Makar eligible for an extension next summer, I wonder if they didn’t want to be staring down the barrel of tying up close to $40M in 3 players…..especially when Rantanen would be 37 when that contract culminates. Even with the projections, and assuming a $115M cap, that’s still committing 35% of your cap to 15% of your 20 man roster.

Right now Colorado is projected to be $5M over the cap. So something had to give…..and Landeskog’s return hurts them because of his NMC.

They also do not have the level of goaltending that most cup winners boast.

BUT!

Considering Nate signed a team friendly deal, had Rantanen also taken $12M, maybe Makar also extends for close to the same, you find a way to make it work and you end up with all of them for a “bargain”.
Somewhere in NW BC trying (yet again) to trade a(nother) Swede…..
