Scheifle is Canadian. Rutherford wasn't talking about Canadians signing in Canada.
So you intuit.

He said players.

Then remarked on Western Canadians only.

Then he said Europeans.

I heard Western Canadians close to home.

I heard Euros.

Basic point.

Its his job to get players to sign here.

Don't care about the ancillary spin talk.

Thanks for the heads up on Mark's nationality.

I guess being from Ontario he would be one Rutherford couldn't sign.

Those were actually good clips to hear Rutherford. He is honest and did contain himself today and not say anything embarrassing or stupid. He talked about the difficulty getting players to play in Vancouver not Canada. The taxes and travel. Western Canadian guys no problem and Europeans no problem.

So they want to target a top 6 centre, no surprise but also get more character/leadership. Also said Quinn is fine. I'm starting to get my post season excited anticipation on.

Who will the coach be?

Who will replace Foote?

What top 6 centre do we land?

Does Brock return?

What other top six forwards do we target?
The only HW the Canucks need

The odds are good Hughes will resign in Vancouver.
The odds are good Petey will be fine next season.
The odds are good Rutherford can get the three forwards he and I said this team needs this off-season.
The odds are good that the goalies and defence will be fine.
The odds are good Manny leads the team to a big bounce back.

Alls good…, and if I’m wrong, I have two words for you - Gavin McKenna!
Agree. This board has suddenly become filled with Eeyores. I don't think we're taking into account how serious Quinn is taking the captaincy, and the respect the team has given him by entrusting him with this position. For him to refuse to sign another contract and walk to free agency would be completely out of character.

Also, who wants to live in fucking New Jersey.

I have this nagging suspicion that Boeser doesn't see the kind of offers he (or his agent) think they're going to receive and he ends up back in Van.

His softness is almost legendary. If Minny really wanted him I'm sure they could have sent a minimal package to van sometime over the past few years and got him no problem.

If Quinn goes to New Jersey and helps them win another cup, he’ll be seen as a great player, maybe a little self-serving, who did something that’s already been done before, adding to that team’s already successful history.

If he captains the Canucks to a cup, he’ll become mythical, comparable to Ogopogo and Sasquatch.

He’ll resign for that challenge and legacy.

I don’t get the god damned sense of “waiting one and 3/4’s of a season” to try and sign Hughes. “If we feel we can’t sign him we will trade him at the deadline.”???

OK, so what team outside of New Jersey is going to throw us an amazing package of assets to “rent” Quinn knowing he will sign with Jersey to play with his bro’s in July? New Jersey isn’t going to give up the farm? They will just sit pretty waiting until July to land Quinn for free without so much as moving a muscle.

You need to figure out NOW if he is committed. If you get the sense he isn’t, in which they obviously are getting the sense he ain’t committed (otherwise why would big mouth Rutherford say so.) Then you start now by entertaining offers for him. Just once would I like to see this organization having the nads and “stay ahead of it”! But I have absolutely zero faith in these jack asses staying ahead of it. They’ve given me plenty of reasons so far as to why I lack the faith.

Excuse me?

The point of the board is to have and discuss our opinions.

In this particular section and specific thread it is about Canuck News and Notes in current time frames yes?

Our illustrious GM recently put this subject in play his very self did he not?

....and if the opinion does not align with what you deem to be positive thought processes those who have the discussions contrary to your opinions are now Eeyores?

Also, the discussion, had you been paying full attention, is not specific only to Hughes it is about the state of the current team and the potential need to reset.

Hughes being our greatest asset, combined with the senile old bats words has resulted in what has been (I thought) a pretty good conversation without all the common BS that pipes up around here.

Apparently you disagree.

Eeyores.

With all due respect.

Yeah...not sure if you've read the thread or not but this was pretty much the gist of the conversation.

Jimmy R. mentioned he received a couple of calls from some agents, regarding the coaching vacancy - Gil Scott, and Neil Glasberg.

Interestingly enough, Scott represents Bruce Boudreau and Jim Benning.

Glasberg represents a lot of top tier coaches, Sullivan etc. - notable out of work: Gerard Gallant. (Also represents Jim Rutherford)

I wonder if Benning wants to try his hand at coaching now…

Ha! If there was one signing that could stop this GDHTMB from continuing to circle the drain, I think that would be it! Do it for the Corner Alvin! Hire Jimbo!
