The coaching turnover is slightly concerning. Teams churn coaches when they are rebuilding. We are supposed to be past that.

Now the media will focus on Hughes and Tocc’s relationship and speculate all summer that Hughes is done here too… souring him and running him out of town as well.

We just can't go a month without drama around this franchise. Having a bunch of vultures in the media doesn't help at all.

We finally get a good coach who gets the players to buy into a system, and now we start all over. New coaches, new systems, let's see where our PK goes next year, just as we were getting it back.

It's going to be a long summer. Draft, Free Agency, new coach, and so much of it revolves around a certain sullen Swede.

I'd really, REALLY hate to see Hughes leave, but at this point, I wouldn't blame him.

Re: Jon Cooper - I guess he is good friends with the Utah owner. He signed a one year contract with Tampa last year, and speculation was that he plans to jump to Utah for next season.

Back to Manny.

If I am a tenured NHL coach I am looking at this organization and declining.

We have shit show written all over us.

As far as Quennville goes why would we think his first job off suspension in this quagmire of a media market would be an attractive landing spot.

Jeff Patterson is drooling already.

Also, at this point in time my guess is we should allow ourselves to accept the reality that the over/under odds on the departure of Quinn Hughes are moving in a negative direction.

Lotsa doom and gloom in here. According to hockeydb Coop has one more season left after this one. He is a proud BC boy. I don't think it's out of the realm of possibility he'd take the job here. I liked Tocchet but he has to take some responsibility for the fiasco between the two babies. And I think he stifles offence. He's 2/9 for playoff appearances.

Outside of someone like who is looking for their first NHL head coaching gig, like Malhotra, I can’t see many coaches being excited to come here until those top two C spots are figured out. The only attractive thing in that regards would be if the incoming coach would have some say in the player personnel…..which I don’t think JR/PA are going to let happen.
Somewhere in NW BC trying (yet again) to trade a(nother) Swede…..

The lack of another big-4 franchise keeps the spotlight on the Canucks.

That being said, most Canadian markets have fairly toxic media. We just don’t pay attention.

Teams can be turned around quickly. Look at the Panthers. Management did the right thing by not holding Tocchet to the team option. He probably had one eye on the door since January.

Look at Washington with a couple of astute moves and hiring Carbery as a coach.

I've been pondering on this and have come to the conclusion that for the betterment of the team and franchise, the solution to all of this is a rebuild.

The riches that could be gained through a QH43 trade coupled with the release of inevitable pending anxiety related to the "will he stay or will he go" days of our lives drama are worth the reset.

Think about it...there is sweet FA in the pipeline for elite forward prospects. There is fuck all on the current roster for potential to break out other than the Pettersson saga which the team desperately needs to divest itself of as fast as possible.

On that one....this little twat has been instrumental in destroying this current edition of our Canucks. Get him outta here stat.

Aquilinis will not allow a rebuild.

The Blues poached two good players from Edmonton for a 2nd and a 3rd. Start using the offer sheet tool. Jake Neighbors took another step and the Blues are a solid team after Monty came in. Teams can be improved. I'v given a few examples.

Briefly mentioned trading Hughes for a haul 6 or 8 weeks ago.

Thought about creating a thread.

Not worth the effort roi wise so didn't bother.

Might have in H2 but that blew up as well.

I really do think it would be the best course of action. Step back for a few years and build around Wilander, DPete, Mancini, Mynio moving forward. A good crack at that local kid next years draft would be a decent goal. There is still some value in some of the vets we have to offer so it sure seems like time. Get the Hughes trade done quietly in advance of the impending storm of bullshit woven by the local media

An added bonus is francisco might get to spend a summer on the patio instead of selling lawn parking to cover the bonuses

I can’t think of a worse season than this and there has been some real shitty seasons with this club.
