I for one do not buy the story that the rookie bonus of around $200k are the holdup. Makes absolutely no sense that the Canucks, who covet this kid, would dick around for $200k, especially since they could bury him in Abbotsford if need be. I buy the story that he wants to finish his semester and maybe return for his 3rd year at BU. I think he loves where he is and would rather be at BU than toil in Abbotsford, right or wrong. He may not see a short path to the NHL and the Canucks may have to move him because of that. Right now he would have to beat out Mancini for the job and while he may have more overall skillMancini is a good choice in the 3 spot on the right.

Lets see if the story has legs after he finishes his semester.
The only HW the Canucks need

Word is and I trust this word is that Willander has made it clear he has no problem serving time in Abbotsford. I think it’s money, and he’s using the threat of staying another year in University to get what he wants, both sides are at a stalemate playing chicken. His agent is Todd Diamond and he is a shit, having given the Canucks the same type of runaround when he represented Tryamkin. That being said, if the Canucks don’t bite, Willander doesn’t mind, cause it sounds like he loves the school environment.

It’s not going to help that Dhali has been a hugh Todd Diamond shill, which other local media has fed off in the past. This resulted in a better contract for Tryamkin - in Russia, but did nothing to help the Canucks. We’ll see if history repeats and Canuck management wears this with local media as this stalemate stretches on. If Dhali has influence, it definitely won’t be the agent wearing any blame. For the good of his development and chances of making the big club right out of camp next season, Willander should already be in Abbotsford. Personally, I’m more inclined to blame this agent than management if it doesn’t get done soon. I think he’s trying to make a name for himself as a tough negotiator to the detriment of his client in this market. The only way a stalemate helps is if he wants Willander playing for a different club. Then he’s going about it in the right way I guess.

We’d be a bit overloaded on the right in the present with the removed development time allotted for Willander in Abbotsford. I gather Mancini would be the odd man out on the right side. Back to Abby he goes? Or move Myers? I worry about Barzal’s health.

How about moving Willander to draft a top centre in the 2025 nhl draft like a Misa, Hagens, McQueen, O’Brien or Frondell? How come nobody ever thought of that one? And use our pick to draft Nesbitt. The centre slot ain’t looking so bad now ain’t it? Hook in Suter, sign him, as your placeholder behind Petey?

You worry about Barzals health but not EP's?

He's on injury #3 that either shut him down or "significantly" hampered his play.

We are in the age of Hughes, the team needs a Center now, not in 4 years post '25 draft.

Current guess for me is we go into next year:

EP - Center 1

Willander (plus) bait - Center 2

Chytil - Center 3

Bleuger/Raty - Center 4

Mancini won't be in Abbotsford next year, Chef.

Saw those in your Abby thread Megs.

Dances pretty good for a big dude.

Be nice if he had a bit of Pronger nasty in him.

Yeah, there's none of that meanness, sadly.

Still, a 230-pounder that moves like that doesn't grow on trees. I think he's done with the AHL after these playoffs and he really makes that trade look a lot better.

Best of three goes Wed-Thurs-Sat vs Tucson in Abby. They just missed finishing first and getting the first-round bye.

I'm unsure what is up with Silovs, but I hope it's nothing long-term. Jiri Patera is finally back anyway, but he's bound to be rusty.

He’s making it easy to trade Willander. Do not be surprised if he’s dealt for centre help.

Yeah, saw the standings, actually we had 1 more win than Colorado but OTL/SOL made the difference.

Laval looks to be the class of the A Megs?

Road to the Calder Cup goes through them?
