Not sure how anyone couldn't have known, he campaigned on it and has only been promoting punishing tariffs since the 1980's...It wasn't a great field, it never is. Did you know he was going to embark on this crazy tariff policy? I didn't, and I don't know anyone else who did. I was interested in walking back from the brink of WW3 and at least Trump was showing some interest in that area.
China has cut US film imports in part because of a sagging domestic interest so call me suspecious about the sudden uptick in sales especially considering the contraversy in Canada over the 4 Tesla dealerships selling over 8,000 cars in 3 days on the eve of the tax credits being removed...So Telsa sales were pretty much the same as the last 2 years for Q1 sales.
A game?President Trump's game of tariffs won't last forever...
In terms of goods sold globally, a concern is that the world is deAmericanizing as new trading alliances are being formed and former boogeyman countries like China suddenly seem like a better partner than the US...
Blob, I am embarrassed by my choice. I really shouldn't be on here trying to defend it.Blob Mckenzie wrote: ↑Wed Apr 09, 2025 2:22 pmWhy is it wearing on you Megs? You have been pretty much a Trump dude from the start, no? I couldn't care less. It's certainly fractured this place (not you of course) but it's fascinating to see all the Canadians throw their support behind Orange Man. To each their own. I doubt their lives will be affected other than to lick their lips when it hurts someone else.Megaterio Llamas wrote: ↑Wed Apr 09, 2025 12:47 pm So Trump has paused his tariff war for 90 days. This affects all countries that did not retaliate. In the case of China, tariffs remain at 125 percent. The other country that retaliated is Canada...
The chaos is wearing on me at this point.

People got what they asked for with this maniac back in power.
And their answer is to crush a Canadian govt, that dares to speak up. Two separate entities to most normal folks but its hilarious to see the orange puppets bash their own country and support a dictator that has no impact on their life. Like fan boys.

Yes, exactly. Trump's tech oligarchs must not be happy campers at the moment. Amazon sources 70 percent of its goods from China.
You, on the other hand, come across as unbiased and honest.
Apparently Japan was selling bonds as well. And China owns a ton of US debt so we'll see what happens there.rikster wrote: ↑Fri Apr 11, 2025 12:44 pmGood find Cornuck...Cornuck wrote: ↑Fri Apr 11, 2025 10:33 am Interesting read on Carney's use of U.S. Treasury bonds to stop tariffs.

Kinda stupid to try to destroy the economies of the countries you are up to your eye balls in debt to, especially when you are still spending like a drunken sailor on borrowed money...
