The Globe ran an opinion piece on the state of the Conservative Party under the headline;
The Conservatives have had the rug pulled out from under them
Its behind a paywall ...

It talks about how their once insurmountable lead is now down to single digits and in some polls trailing the Liberals who might end up with a majority government...
PP and the Conservatives were all about attacking JT's record and policies like carbon tax and that Canada is broken which played well until Trump came along and JT resigned...
Like a dog chasing a bus who suddenly finds it idling at a stoplight, Mr. Poilievre and his party have gotten what they wanted – so now what?
You could see them struggling with this in real time this week – stuck in a gear that no longer made sense, but unable to find another way to move forward.
Conservative MPs held four separate press conferences, trying to seize some attention, frame the Liberal debates and most of all, find a way to define and defile Mr. Carney already.
The article ends with this thought ...
Somewhere in the world, there must be a language that has a word for the wistfulness you feel for the enemy you wish you were still fighting.
Many of the attack ads no longer include PP but rather the likes of Andrew Sheer who like PP is a lifer politician and someone the Party kicked out as leader after his disasterous bid to become Prime Minister...
That in a nutshell is the problem with the Conservatives...they could get away on attacking a disliked JT and beating up on his record and policies which was another way of hiding the fact that their leader is just as flawed and in some ways has a worse record while never being in a governing position...
They can't tell us why PP is a better choice than Carney because he simply isn't so they are desperate to somehow majically make Carney the boogey man....
Long term my concern is why aren't a Carney and a Bayliss Conservatives? What has happened to the Party that it puts out the likes of Sheer and PP as its leaders?
Lifer politicians with next to zero experience running anything....
