That's only because we're seeing what this team really was without Miller and Pettersson going.....and neither of them have been this year at all. Last year made us think we had something that we didn't actually have.
Man, I always liked this core and the way it was built. I never imagined it would end up like this. This team/core had so much potential and I thought it would end up as the best team ever for this franchise, better than 94 & 2011 teams. If it keeps going in this direction, it would have to be the most disappointing team/core ever assembled for this franchise.
Still 20ish games, so we'll see how things play out. This team has oddly got some Ws from some pretty good teams this year, but seems to suck when playing the lesser opponents. I don't have my hopes up, but I will wait till the end of the season before making final judgement on this team.

I think a lot of us had similar hopes. But if we take off our fan goggles, how much of that hope was fostered because of how good Hughes is and the fact that we’ve never had a defenseman like him before…..as long as I’ve been a fan we have lamented not having that true play driving 1D. And then we get a guy who can skate like Bobby and blows our doors off.
I realize it’s a broken record, but for me, when they inked Pettersson to that contract, which by default made him the core forward, I gave up on that hope and was waiting for the wheels to come off.
Somewhere in NW BC trying (yet again) to trade a(nother) Swede…..
