Looks like Mancini was sent down to Abbotsford yesterday. And I heard on global news DPetey, Karlsson and Aman were sent down today. Could be a solid couple of weeks for the Abbotsford Canucks while the Four Nations Tournament is going on.

Demko leaves vs. Maple leaves, injury not considered serious
If TD35 come backs, I think Tocc should try load mgmt on him, like what Raptors did with Kawhi Leonard. Split the games 50/50 now on in between his 2 goaltenders. Even if Demmer stands on his head, the next game just go with Lankinen no matter what. Basically just play Demmer every other game. See if this helps prevent Demmer from getting another injury any time soon. We have the luxury to do this as Lankinen has been unbelievable, so just try it.

Demmer hasn't been overworked at all to this point. It may take until next season to see if the good goalie is still in there. They have done the right thing with him.

We did play him for like 3 straight games though. It is to no one's surprise that he tweaked something and left the TO game.

Lankinen is pretty much a must sign. I don’t trust Demko’s health moving forward. We need a stop m-gap solution to deal with this uncertainty and Lankinen is that.

He is still a bit of a 1 hit wonder, I, If I were the Canucks, would sign him for something like 7.5 mil over 3 years.

He's worth resigning, and his stats this year aren't really off much from his other years. His GAA is a bit lower, but save percentage is fairly consistent, even with shitty Chicago teams. The only question mark I see is if he can handle the workload of a #1 over a full season an into the playoffs.

Yes, the Canucks should re-sign him, I am a bit surprised they haven't yet. My only guess is that they are negotiating over the number. I hope they can keep the AAV under 3 and closer to 2.5 mil per season in any extension.

It'd be for term, I would think. I do like him in the $2-2.5 range, but one wonders how willing he is to do that and is probably looking for stable income. I actually was about to parrot what you proposed before I read again. I'd feel better at 2x3, but he's done very well in a 1B role.

I don't see why we couldn't do that and do 47-35 splits going forward for the duration of the contract. We chronically overuse Demko, who just won't quit on a save and leaves him vulnerable for...exactly what has happened.

I would like to see the Canucks re-sign him for closing to 2 mil per as well, I was just trying to be realistic with the numbers. He has some, albeit not much, bargaining power I think right now. Hopefully he and his agent still remember last summer where he didn't sign until training camp.

He apparently did have a few offers but he didn't want to sign with those teams. He was holding out for a team destination not so much money. When Vancouver first knocked on his door that was where he wanted to go so he played the patience game. Patiently waiting for them to make an offer. Canucks played cool and really low balled. They won't be able to play that cool game this time around. Everyone and his brother know that the Canucks season would be lost if not for Lankinen. Canucks made need to add term. So 2.5-3 x 4.
The only HW the Canucks need

Sign Lanky at $2.5x4. That is a tradeable contract of we outgrow him. And it sets him up for life financially too.

That’s about the max I would go for Lankinen. I like him, but I don’t think he’s near to being a top goalie in the league. They should not get carried away paying for a backup. Let someone else overpay and sign some other late summer backup.
This defence the Canucks have recently constructed will make replacement level backups look very good. If Demko stays healthy behind this defence next season, he’ll be a favourite for a Vézina.

I would rather the Canucks go for an extra year of term than a higher cap hit on him.

I'm fine with re-signing Lankinen on a medium term, 3 or 4 year deal. If nothing else it's insurance given Demko's deal is up next year, and I'm not sure how Demko can justify a raise or long-term given he's injured all the time. If they re-sign Lankinen then they can make a decision on Demko in the summer once he's eligible for an extension. Either extend him to a reasonable deal or you can trade him then and get another 1B to pair with Lankinen moving forward.

For forwards, if it were me I'd be after Sissons for a 3C and Kyrou as a top 6 winger. Sissons as he's right handed, good on face-offs, good defensively, decent sized, signed for another year relatively cheaply and a local guy to boot. He's been a +/- 30 point player most of his career and he's off that pace this year so hopefully that brings the cost down a bit. Kyrou is one of the fastest players in the league and we know this management team loves speed. He's a 1st/2nd line winger on almost every team in the league, only 26 years old and signed for 8 more years at just north of $8 million per season. He's a better scorer than Boeser and fits more of what this team wants so I can see Allvin being all over him.

I'd trade Boeser for futures and use those plus something else to go get these guys. Yep it would be expensive, especially for Kyrou, but they'd get 6 full seasons out of him plus this year's playoffs and he's back to FA at age 33. I like him to age better than Brock especially if Brock actually insists on the 8 year deal he supposedly wants.

The team still might need another center in a year or two, but there would still be about $10 million in cap space this offseason to go get somebody else after signing Lankinen and trading for Kyrou/Sissons - wouldn't be too many expendable assets left but that's a concern for later on. Kyrou is rumoured to be on the block, not sure about Sissons but I'd assume Nashville will make some changes after their god awful season, and a 3rd line center who is 31 years old probably isn't completely off limits.
