Did you know this:

Quinn Hughes on Josh Norris:

“He’s my best friend, and we’re really tight. He lives 20 minutes from me, and we pretty much see each other every weekend in the summer.”

There’s your trade for a goal scorer folks. This is how you keep Quinn happy. You acquire his best friend - Norris.

Apparently the Sens are shopping him. Norris has 19 goals and 12 assists in 50 games. He’s 25 years old. Right in Alvin’s wheelhouse.

Douchey Soucey and 2025 1st for Norris. Getterdun

Then we will have three first rounders from the 2017 draft:

Pettersson - 5th OA
Norris - 19th OA
Chytil - 21st OA

Yeah not only is Fantilli not for sale, either is Kent Johnson.

Beauty goal he scored tonight, his 16th.

I’ll see your trade and raise you….

To VAN: Stutzle/Tkachuk + Norris

So....who cares if a floundering journeyman is available? We need a better quality of player than that. I don't have an assessment on Sillinger, just making the point we are at quota for floundering journeyman.
He's 21. Turns 22 in May. He reminds me a bit of a young Bo Horvat. He is a bit hamhanded and his skating is average. That said he gets time on both special teams, he's built like a bull and has some grit to his game. His finishing is suspect as reflected by his 8-9 % shooting level.,

He's not a floundering journeyman. He's a good young player.

So, we let Boesser walk, and spend his $$ on Vilardi? I can see him asking for $6+. But, I think that the Peg can manage his contract. They have about $5mil + the increase in cap to spend to extend Vilardi, Pionk and Ehlers. That's almost $3mil extra each. They don't have the headaches we do, :( :(
I didn’t say let Boeser walk…..

Vilardi is pacing for ~ 32G/75P. He’s 6’3” - 216lbs…..probably looking for at least $8M.
Well, if he doesn’t walk, we get a 4th for his rights, which is the same as walking. Or, we have to trade him before the trade deadline……

You just described his old man,

All kidding aside, he doesn’t fit the mould as the “goal scorer” Allvin has said he’d like to add. Goal scorers Ehlers and Norris are apparently available. Problem is Ehlers doesn’t fit the age of the goal scorer Allvin has said he’d like to add. Norris does, but isn’t Norris a centre?

I get the impression the Jets really like Vilardi which may explain the rumours of them trying to move Ehlers.

Ehlers is upcoming UFA. So is Pionk. Gabe Vilardi is RFA.

Well Ehlers is a classic European player. Clips along consistently at a 65 point pace in the regular season (sometimes better than that) and then disappears completely in the playoffs. As a forward counted on to produce in the top-6 he's one of the reasons why Winnipeg has not had playoff success.
Somewhere in NW BC trying (yet again) to trade a(nother) Swede…..

I agree, Mëds. Not a huge fan with how Ehlers disappears come post season. His days are numbered. I’m envisioning a Vegas deal for Ehlers. Jets would be crazy not to retain Vilardi

Only way I would move Soucey is if he is part of a package, most likely with Boeser, where the Canucks are getting a top blue chip winger coming back.

Something like:

Boeser + Soucey to cup contender team.

Blue chip winger prospect, 1st, cap dump to Canucks.

I would be trying to unload Pettersson and package Soucy into that.

When I looked at Boeser and Pettersson I am convinced that neither of them are ever going to be THE MAN, but both can very well be THE MAN’s wingman. Brock will be much cheaper than $11.6M, and frankly their skating is a wash…..BB has better first step and lateral movement, Pettersson more top end through open ice, but BB doesn’t get knocked over when a defender breathes on him.

I would be up for something like that but I would want a top C prospect coming back in any trade involving Pettersson. Depending on return, I can be fine with trading anyone except Hughes. He is the only untouchable on my team, if I owned the Canucks.
