We all see what we want to see.
I don’t like Myers so I see every dumb mistake he makes.

I don’t think any of the JT “apologists” are wearing rose coloured glasses…..at least round these here parts.
Miller has his warts, and we’ve all discussed them. But he also has attributes that EVERY contending team needs…..some of them he has in spades. Most guys who bring those attributes also have similar issues with consistency and letting their emotions get the better of them at times.

Don’t get me wrong, other than his age and potential decline I was hoping they could work it out. But shit happens and it is time to move on. I am curious to see how the team gels over the next month.Mëds wrote: ↑Sat Feb 01, 2025 2:39 pmI don’t think any of the JT “apologists” are wearing rose coloured glasses…..at least round these here parts.

I am concerned about the last trade, there should have been a resigning part to the deal as I don’t want to see another 1st go out on a rental.
Re: Pettersson/Miller
I don’t think you’ll see him walk. But I actually like that they aren’t extending him yet. Make sure he’s a fit first.2Fingers wrote: ↑Sat Feb 01, 2025 2:56 pmDon’t get me wrong, other than his age and potential decline I was hoping they could work it out. The only way these morons can redeem themselves is if they craft a real plan to build around Hughes…..everyone else has to prove they fit the build. If Hughes walks then the entire management group should be shit canned and you strip the entire organization, front office, coaches, roster, and all, right down to ground and rebuild it.

Re: Pettersson/Miller
For sure - and I find it interesting that in all the bodies coming in with these trades, there's not one that seems to fit the description of 'deterrent'.

Re: Pettersson/Miller
Yeah that is something the team hasn’t done for years. We need assholes on the team and this has been a constant for years.

I'm no Pettersson apologist or management schill. But they are taking 98 % of the blame from Team Miller. So being the voice of reason I will try and balance things out a bit. Its getting tiresome TBQH.Mëds wrote: ↑Sat Feb 01, 2025 2:39 pmI don’t think any of the JT “apologists” are wearing rose coloured glasses…..at least round these here parts.

Mods is there a way to ignore threads? I'll throw my two cents in on how I really feel about this but my fear is this fiasco of a situation is going to permeate all most every thread here, especially when you have an old bi polar, raging, cocaine fueled drywaller from North Van with Tourette's and Aspergers chanting at the top of his lungs seeking attention.

I don't think the organization stands a chance until they have ownership that could pass the marshmallow test.
Whether it happens because the team changes hands or because the Little Eagles learn to understand the rewards of delayed gratification doesn't matter, but without it, we can just watch another half century of them spinning their wheels.

Re: Pettersson/Miller
I might be misunderstanding the terms, but I don't think there's necessarily any overlap in the categories. Assholes are not necessarily deterrents, and deterrents are not necessarily assholes.
I agree that unless the League opts to protect its stars, then #ProtectYourStar has to be a roster priority. But I have never seen the competitive value of assholes. That many on this board derive entertainment value from assholes is clear, and the Canucks are ultimately in the entertainment business, but I don't think adding assholes without deterrent value (e.g. Matt Cooke) gets them any closer to a championship.

Had one. Just traded him and kept the mouse.
Miller may not have been a great fighter, but he wasn’t afraid to go. And he wasn’t afraid of scrums, liked throwing hits…..

Re: Pettersson/Miller
What's an inability to fight got to do with anything?
He had nads enough to do it and was one of the only players in this powder puff line up to step up and do so.
More Managerial dysfunction to not address a team need thus making a guy, who's been our best, most consistent forward for the past 3 years, and (once again) who stepped up and signed a team friendly deal, take shots to the head (willingly) in order to succeed.

I was just getting ahead of Blobster’s, “He got his head caved in by Brayden Schenn” response to me pointing out that Miller is that type of asshole player that we are always lamenting we don’t have.
Your list of names sums up the sort of assholes most of us think we need.
