Interesting. Are they actually going to keep Mancini in Vancouver, or is this a precursor for something else?

I'm not even going to hazard to guess what's going on - it's not clearing much salary (775k), but opening a roster spot.
With all of these changes, I hope the petunias can adapt quickly.

Yeah, something’s fishy here. What will this team look like come Monday against Detroit?

Sherwood coming off IR? PDG needs waivers to get across the Port Mann.

Finally a chance to listen to RoboSwede Saturday interview
Miller was gone from when agent/Miller/RoboSwede sat down about the leave of absence. Didn't say it was requested, downplayed the Scooter feud, hinted something else going on in Miller's life that he needed a break and team decided he needed afresh start.
On the noise surrounding Miller/Pettersson, "Jim talks too much". He admonished Rutherford for his comments last week but the feeling I got was Jim is loose with info. I wonder when Jim started whispering about this ... Said back in the playing days of Ricky and Gonch, it would have been dealt with outside the rink. Locker room needs to be a safe place. Is Scooter a Gandy Dancer?
Very noncommittal on resigning Brock and made vague mention that we'll see who is around after the trade deadline. Get the feeling Brock could be gone sooner than later.
Hasn't talked to M Pete's agent but would like to sign an extension. Did he say the same of Lindholm and Zedorov?
Availability and price kept him from addressing the D in the off season (Zedorov was in town idjit) but knew it needed work. Off season moves on D were just band aids in the meantime. Tried not laughing too hard when he said "re tool".
Knew what Dubas wanted for M Pete and was able to get it from the Rags.

So now we know Rutherford is the leak. He has been talking out of school and got this all fired up. I wonder if keeping the locker room a safe place is in reference to that? It is a confusing comment to me. Wonder if Allvin will pull a Benning and start whispering into Aquilini's ear to get Rutherford retired.
The only HW the Canucks need

I think we can be confident that something happened in the room earlier this season. Something Miller - and management, it seems - found irreconcilable. It didn't necessarily involve Pettersson - though it's clear there is no love lost between them. That's based off of what public comments we can derive any insight into the situation.Hockey Widow wrote: ↑Mon Feb 03, 2025 11:50 am So now we know Rutherford is the leak. Credit the room for keeping it in the room - and it's a bit unfortunate for them that Rutherford couldn't keep quiet about it. Rutherford is starting to resemble Trump, in that it's an adventure every time he has a mic on front of him.
Unless the team changes their body-language and performance on the ice, this season looks lost. They have a look of a lifeless team where no one is really happy. Hell, they couldn't be bothered to get the puck for Karlsson's first NHL goal. Barely anyone celebrates anything anymore out there, and most of the celebrations look like they;re going through the motions. The only ones showing any emotion are Sherwood and any new guys who haven't been in the room for more than a game or two. When was the last time you saw Hughes smile or look happy on the ice - even when they're winning?? Chytil's goal celebration stood out for me because he was actually excited after his goal. Too many games guys would score and skate away like, "Yeah, whatever. Life sucks, and we still have the rest of the game to play. Let's just get on with it." Hard to watch a team play hockey like they're on the way to the Gulag regardless the result.
I don't know what will do the trick to turn this team's morale around - winning games looks like a threadbare patch-over at this point - whether it's new coaches, new players or new management. Until it does, I'm not sure even the wins will make a lick's worth of difference to the season at the end.

Morale is a funny thing. This season started so badly that I think the fall off from last year really demoralized the room on top of the situation that was brewing. The only remedy is consistent winning. I mean, you're in a cycle of win-loss-win-loss.....lately the L's have piled up more. Guys may be hesitating to really get excited only to have it all crash down again.Lancer wrote: ↑Mon Feb 03, 2025 12:18 pmI think we can be confident that something happened in the room earlier this season. Re: Canucks News N Notes 24-25
From Hughes’ agent, JP Barry:
“It hasn’t affected his play,” Barry said about how Hughes has dealt with all the noise. “But I think he wants the team to have results more than himself personally. If your room’s not right, then it affects everyone, including the leadership. I think this whole thing could go to another level here for him. And he’ll feel more comfortable with the room and we can just move forward. I look for a really good finish.”
I guess the room wasn’t right - news flash, I know. Interesting how he spoke of it as something Hughes endured - as if he had no agency as team captain to get the room ‘right’ and he had no role to play in all that.
Reassuring, I guess, if Barry is saying the issue is past them now.
I guess we’ll never know what it was with Miller that made the room “not right”.

If this quote is from after the Miller trade, then I have to wonder what he means by: this thing COULD go another level here for him.Lancer wrote: ↑Mon Feb 03, 2025 2:46 pm From Hughes’ agent, JP Barry:

Does that mean that this roster shakeup could go another level, as in more bodies on the move?
Or does it mean that his play could go another level now that there is no distractions?
