The GMs best move right now would be to keep Miller and Petey until the off season and get a better deal if the team doesn’t make the playoff.
I’d assume the coach has lost the room and replace him right now with Malhotra from the Abby Canucks. Changing the coach is the easiest move. Manny knows the defencemen in Abby best. Then the GM should waive and send down all the depth Dmen and let Manny chose whichever defencemen he wants to see if he can turn this season around. Maybe he can, but even if he can’t, they can blow things up in the summer.
Doing nothing right now should not be an option.
If its true that Miller has become an issue within the lockeroom, then I don't think you do anything until he has been dealt...
If its true, then a good example of why when an organization is underperforming its often best to get rid of your best performer if the negativity they bring doesn't outweigh the negative impact to the rest of the staff...
I agree that the best time to move Miller is at the deadline or the off season and they should wait even if it means p*ssing the season away rather than accepting a so so deal...
For me the most concerning play is Demko's...
He's gone from a .918 last season to an .897% save percentage this season and looks lost out there...reminds me of Silvos play this season...

If we’re making a coaching change there is only one guy I want them to hire.
Coach Q.
This team needs a firm, veteran, hand at the helm right now. They need accountability. They need to have confidence instilled in them to actually play the game. Quenneville coached some very good teams that had freedom within their system to be creative. But commitment to the cause was demanded.
Okay, I'm ready, fire Tocc right now and hire Q... and see where it goes.
So, Miller wanys to go to New York but his contract has a no trade clause? Well, who signed that contract? You can imagine the sour outlook if the team wanted to change a signed contract. That being said, you know who doesn't have a no trade policy? Demko. I'd trade that guy for a reuben sandwich from RedTruck brewing.

Apparently the Canucks are getting absolute shit offers everywhere. Keep the Jack asses and ride it out to the off season or something.
The summer is the time unless someone ponies up. It's that simple.
The season is swirling the bowl anyway so might as well punt on 3rd down and reset the mix.

We don’t know if one issue, besides the defence, is a conflict between JT and Tocchet. Maybe a calm voice like Manny’s will be the able to resurrect this season. I’d give Manny the reigns as a temporary coach and Q in the summer if they still miss the playoffs. Sometimes a farm team coach has a better idea of how to use all the organization’s players. Why write off this season when there is still a chance it can be turned around.

Well if it's a turd...and this most certainly is that...it swirls the bowl or bowel, depending on how early in the year it is
I haven’t seen anywhere except on this board that he is the problem.
We played over our heads last year and started to come back to earth at the all star game. We should have seen it then. We screwed the pooch on D and took major backwards steps after seemingly building a decent defence.
I lay this at the feet of Allvin. There were known problems apparently and it wasn’t addressed. Yes Tocchet plays a tight and game and acknowledged that he had to loosen the reigns a bit but not at the risk of playing porous hockey.
Demko hasn’t stolen us one single point this year.

Why is it suddenly the coach is the problem?
Because it has suddenly become apparent that he has lost the room.
They can’t make an acceptable trade, added to that is Tocchet’s fixation with a big defence whether they hurt the club or not is dumb.
A new voice might reach some or all of the players that are underperforming. So why waste a season when Tocchet likely walks at the end of this season anyway if they miss the playoffs.

People really need to read between the lines when Allvin was asked about Tocchet and his next contract where Allvin responded with “it’s a two way street”. Maybe Tocchet wants out? Either way there is an obvious disconnect going on between coach and players, coach and management and management and players. It’s a Royal fucking mess
