Holy Vinny Bloberino! Were you gettng spittle on your phone when you were pounding that post out???? All he did was mention the word Benning once and you started frothing! Right on cue!

It's almost like everyone knows you react that way and can't help them/ourselves from picking at that hilarious overreaction....almost

Anyways...you were correct, I originally did not like how GMJB moved out draft assets like the complimentary second with every trade or the up and coming G Forsling right after showing very well at the WJC tournament but started to see his merits with some of his early picks including OJ.

Speaking of the devil....at the time OJ was the top ranked defenseman in that draft class by central scouting. NOT Sergachev, not the others...OJ. He had come off a very good draft year season and was oozing potential. I have a hard time picking on that selection because I was listening to out of market analysis of that particular draft class (I lived around Calgary at the time) and the flames were going to be happy with either Tkachuk or OJ at the time.

Who the fuck would've guessed he was a major league flake? It was shit luck and you have conceded as much during periods of lucidity between Benning rages

You're not talking about me, are you Cuz?

I didn't mention JB until he was brought up. I just checked the calendar, that's all.

Look, this is a hockey discussion board. I'm talking hypotheticals because we can all see there is an obvious problem with this team and where the problem is. Some in the media know this too and I linked to it. It's not piling on a certain player. Other players have also been "piled on" constantly then. We're just throwing shit against the wall re: what we each think are good or possible solutions.

Management also realizes there is a huge issue. They finally called out said player for the same reasons we've brought up for months. Are they piling on their signing too?

At the end of the day, they have their possibilities they are pursuing. Whatever we/media/internet talk about are just opinions. They will make their move(s) or not. I've never been overly extreme about one regime vs another. They have all done well and have fucked up too.

And let's be honest, we all took sides to troll the other for fun. But it's 2025 now.

Chef is completely tapped out when it comes to the Benning era and the Gillis era. But I agree with Blob in that Benning was in over his head, he’s not GM material but a rat rink scout with mustard stains on his shirt and tie. But I do/did feel sorry for him as his appointment to the position is not his fault but the fault of those who hired him along with their special fucked up weird idealogy on how they like their club to be managed.

This year has been a disappointment to say the least and the blame lies on the shoulders of those who put it together - Allvin and Rutherford. The dressing room drama or whatever it is, from an optics point of view, doesn’t leave the impression that it’s being managed well, but maybe their hands are tied. Who knows

Nobody is frothing. But there are legit some folks here that think he did a bangup job, Wiebo chief among them. Puke Stroker was so easy to spot as a sock. He admitted to lying a couple of times.

Juolevi over Tkachuk was putrid. Dont try and defend that. Olaf was oozing pus, not potentisl.

That was right after smoking my Saturday wake 'n bake. That'll teach me for going down the sativa rabbit hole

Na Carl that was all about Blob. He's thinking we're all piling on him for joking about his Benning dillusions. He thinks I'm seeking validation from someone for fish or something...lol I dunno it's pretty funny though

So back to the centers.

You have to wonder what the fuck happened. I'd there a right? Is there someone who wants to leave? Or someone else to leave? How does this shit teach the point where they go after a teammate or consequently, they quit on their teammates?

If both entities are petty enough to let this work its way into the public eye then are either one worth keeping?

If a team were to do the unprecedented and trade both centers like that and rebuild around Hughes, how the fuck can you pull that rabbit out of the hat?

Olaf was not a reach at the time at all. He was picked right where he was expected to go

Now that we're digging into it, I do recall there was the whole not interviewing Tkachuk by the Canucks and there was also rumours that it was to do with Linden hating his old man. I had forgotten all about that actually

Confirmed! Went and saw him last night, very calm and very mobile. Don’t think he’ll ever outscore even Ian Cole, but he shuts down every threat that came his way. He’s probably the third best healthy Canuck available defensemen right now after Hughes and Myers, and would really help the Canucks hold on to late game leads. He should be getting a look.

Last night’s shutout had Soucy on his off side. Keep him on the right side and keep Deharnais on the bench with Brannstrom. Call up DePetey and pair him with Soucy for now. Keep Forbert on the third pairing rotating with Breezebois and Juulsen until Willander finishes college.

The team will be much more dangerous in the playoffs this season if they can go with:
Hughes Hronek
DePetey Myers
Forbert Willander
Soucy

Per Noah Strang, the Vancouver Canucks have place defenceman Erik Brannstrom on waivers.

Re mobility....

Did you see any concerns with agility on his skates during any 180 degree transitions to counter a player with speed going wide on him?

I believe this was one of Toppers original issues.

I didn’t notice any problems with his mobility - not saying there aren’t any but I didn’t see any problems. He was getting to pucks on his partners side faster than his defensive partners all game. At the AHL level, he seems too good defensively to me. Maybe management wants him to work on his offence, otherwise I don’t know why he is there when we look at who the Canucks have playing on D.

Waiving Brännström may mean a big move is coming, or it could just mean Hronek is ready, or it could just mean they want to give DePetey a look - all good options me.
