Ornery ?!?
Dude asked a question, and was disappointed that nobody answered, so I did my best to explain.
Let's chalk this up as a lesson on how difficult tone and intent can be to convey on a message board.

Do modern NHL head coaches expect that kind of influence on the direction of the team? How many of them get that much say?

I hope he doesn't want out and I hope they aren't looking to goon him. In the last 11 years they've had the corpse of AV, Torts, a quivering, dancing idiot that didn't know when to park his poppie, Green, Boudreau and "Tocchey Hockey"Mëds wrote: ↑Mon Jan 06, 2025 8:04 pmIt would be surprising though. Tocchet was the shortlist for JR/PA when they took the reins. Previous history, similar styles and approach. Not unheard of to happen though.Strangelove wrote: ↑Mon Jan 06, 2025 8:00 pmI love the way you think outside the box Meg.Megaterio Llamas wrote: ↑Mon Jan 06, 2025 7:34 pm My current working theory is that Miller and Pettersson get along okay, but the Tocchet/Peter working relationship can use some, well, some work.
I'm thinking lately that Ricky might wind up the fall guy here.
That did not occur to me and you could be right.
A twist on that.....does Tocchet want out because JR/PA committed to a player that he didn't think was a fit for the direction he wanted to take the team as head coach?

Re: Pettersson/Miller
What we do need is a management group to do the right thing under the single worst ownership in the League. Coaching isn’t the problem. The ownership mandate is, always has been.

Yeah, I agree. A few days ago I posted the names of the coaches we've had in an all too short time.Blob Mckenzie wrote: ↑Wed Jan 08, 2025 7:27 amI hope he doesn't want out and I hope they aren't looking to goon him. Re: Pettersson/Miller
I’m surprised Mëds didn’t mention a possible repeat of last year’s après ASG performance… but it might not matter if they keep this pace and miss the playoffs.
Not sure if I need the winkie or not…
