Olympics, Paris, 2024

The primary goal of this site is to provide mature, meaningful discussion about the Vancouver Canucks. However, we all need a break some time so this forum is basically for anything off-topic, off the wall, or to just get something off your chest! This forum is named after poster Creeper, who passed away in July of 2011 and was a long time member of the Canucks message board community.

It was obviously fake news from the beginning.

Starting to look like this is fake news and that gender of the Algerian is biologically female.

Source of the controversy is the IBA which disqualified her for an alleged failed testosterone test after she defeated an undefeated Russian boxing prospect. The IBA is a Russian dominated organization and the head of the IBA is a personal friend/acquaintance of Putin. Disqualifying Khelif Imane restored the Russian boxer’s perfect record.

According to the IOC, Imane’s parents, and Imane herself, she was born female.

Lin Yu-ting, the Taiwanese boxer who is also caught up in this apparently has a similar story and was also disqualified by the IBA.
^^^that was fake news. The semis haven't taken place yet, I think they're today. I needed to check that before posting. Sorry.

Russian bogeymen aren't convincing to me Mëds, and I'm sure Russia doesn't control amateur boxing globally.. I don't think anything has been debunked yet.

Upon cursory glance both competitors do indeed look like men.

The opponent who withdrew after having her nose broken said she had never felt punches like the ones Imane was throwing.
Somewhere in NW BC trying (yet again) to trade a(nother) Swede…..

Not that freakish. Incidence of DSD is about 1 in 5000.

Also, these boxers were assigned female at birth, but what were those decisions based on? Genitalia? Sex chromosome?

I've read of one approach, called the optimal gender approach, is for children with penises judged to be too small for intercourse be reassigned female. Makes sense for a conservative Muslim country like Algeria to deny male classification in such cases. So they could just be men with small penises.

Reefer, your thoughts?

Sometimes it's worth it to read a few paragraphs to get to the well set up punchline.

Quite a men's 100 yesterday.

Tight across the board.

Noah Lyles (USA) won by .005 second in a photo finish.

The last place dude, Seville from Jamaica (mon) ran 9.91....for reference Carl Lewis won his Gold at 9.92.

Check out the photo below to see how close it was across the board.

Helluva race.
