Well I feel better now. Another big body on the backend and much needed depth.
The only HW the Canucks need

Yeah. Watched Allvin's presser. Heinen coming up in 3 min.
I gotta say, JR/PA always come across as having more of a long-term plan, and also a structure they work within, than previous management teams.

Somewhere in NW BC trying (yet again) to trade a(nother) Swede…..
Re: 2024 Offseason - moving forward
Favourite Allvin clip from the presser....(gonna paraphrase).
"Talking with Rick and the coaches, we wanted to get faster up front, and that was a priority with the 3 guys we signed today. I think I talked to Quinn about it and he said he was most excited about getting Sherwood, he said he pissed the whole team off in the playoffs because he played so hard, so he was happy to get him here."

Definitely needed the speed injection. Felt we were way too slow in the playoffs. Love the grit and size they brought in as well. Will be a hard team to play against under the Tocchet system

Mëds, we just need for them to stop trading 1st and 2nd round picks for awhile. I was looking at the summer development camp roster and it’s a pretty depressing group. Something tells me they won’t stop with the trading of high end picks

Would you move a 1st in a Necas deal if we could sign him long term Dude?Chef Boi RD wrote: ↑Mon Jul 01, 2024 2:11 pm Something tells me they won’t stop with the trading of high end picks
I saw Rigatone on X lamenting this as well.
Relax my fellow North Shore denizen.
It's been a good Canuck day!!!

I’d move anything for Necas. Willander and Lekkerimaki includeddonlever wrote: ↑Mon Jul 01, 2024 2:13 pmWould you move a 1st in a Necas deal if we could sign him long term Dude?Chef Boi RD wrote: ↑Mon Jul 01, 2024 2:11 pm Something tells me they won’t stop with the trading of high end picks

Re: 2024 Offseason - moving forward
So Zadorov -5M plus Cole-3.1M for. Total of 8.1
OR
Desharnais-2M plus Forbort -1.5M for a total of 3.5 M.
Don’t know if it makes us better or worse or just the same. We will miss the Z bombs but do we get weaker. Both Desharnais and Forbort are excellent on the PK, as was Cole but not so much Zadorov.
But we save 4.6 on the cap going this way.
Desharnais has had 1 NHL season and is very much a project. He got replaced late in the Vancouver series and didn’t see much if any time in the finals. The thinking seems to be that he is a good PKer and stay at home on the right side and having the opportunity to work with our D coaches he will improve. Biggest area to improve is his positioning. Much like our Juulsen who can get caught running around trying to land that big hit.
So while I don’t see Cole as a loss, I still wanted big Z back but with the numbers we had to work with I think we did ok.

Well, in Necas case I’m throwing everything at him. He’s the same age as Pettersson. He’s got a lot of hockey in him

The 2nd pairing D is a little concerning.

Re: 2024 Offseason - moving forward
More than a little.
Unless they split Hughes and Hronek.

Re: 2024 Offseason - moving forward
I'm just not sure who they slot in with Hughes then.
Myers, Juulsen, and Desharnais, are absolutely NOT 1st pairing guys. Schenn wasn't either, but Schenn has more hockey sense between his ears than those other 3.....Luke just lacked foot speed and hands. But he didn't panic, and often found a way to get Hughes the puck cleanly.
