Prediction: most of the first period will be played in the Canuck’s zone. At least half a dozen times they’ll finally get it out of their own zone, dump it into the Rags zone and turn to the bench allowing an easy exit for the Rags and for the play to continue in the Canuck’s zone. This is Green’s new dump and don’t chase system. Brilliant.

We are all Snidely Whiplash.

Agreed, that is what we are seeing. I still point to game 1 when the Canucks had 2 forwards pressing the opposing D. I thought WOW Green did change and then by game 3 that pressure is gone and now they just do what you wrote above. First thing first, don't go 5 mins or more without a shot on net, second score first, third score a PP goal, fourth go 100% on the PK. If they do that I predict a winCherry Picker wrote: ↑Tue Nov 02, 2021 3:23 pm Prediction: most of the first period will be played in the Canuck’s zone. Like your positiveness Cuz but what will it take you to see what this team could really be like? I want to see the good stuff and just see this as a blip but man it has been some bad hockey and seems predictable from what we saw last season.Cousin Strawberry wrote: ↑Tue Nov 02, 2021 2:49 pm
Good summary.
Meh...it's not as bad as the chicken Little gang make it out to be. Win 3 of the next 4 and all will be right as rain once again

Hard pinching defenses seems to cause the Green System to glitch and go into recovery/limp/Ford mode. Teams beat this with smart wall play and body positioning to protect pucks....something the Canucks lack due to the tiny bodies in the lineup2Fingers wrote: ↑Tue Nov 02, 2021 3:42 pmLike your positiveness Cuz but what will it take you to see what this team could really be like? I like the look of this D-core. Big and strong with OEL and Huggy brining the skill. I like Lukey Schenn, but would prefer a LS guy in his place, a Jordie Benn or Fatenburger would be great. Always good to have an extra RS guy I guess and Schenner should be fine. Man, too bad Tryamkin didn't want to come over, he would have been perfect.
I know Greener is prob desperate, but I would have preferred to give Hamonic at least a week and a few games in Abby to get back up to speed. Hopefully he learned from last time and doesn't overplay Hammy. 3rd pairing minutes should be fine and maybe some limited 2nd unit PK.

Yeah Todd, I hope Green doesn't fuck it up by changing up the pairings.
Hamonic is coming in cold and should be eased in with his minutes and matchups. The top 4 have been fairly solid and shouldn't be broken up lest you see some of the old fire drills again because the forwards sure aren't helping with defensive zone play.
Myers has calmed down with OEL and Hughes has taken a step with his defensive game due to having a quietly responsible Poolboy. Don't tempt the gods, Greener.

The team is headed to Californication and Hammer isn't double-vaxxed.Todd Bersnoozi wrote: ↑Tue Nov 02, 2021 5:05 pm I would have preferred to give Hamonic at least a week and a few games in Abby to get back up to speed.
He says he skated harder this off-season than he has in years.
And he did play 20 minutes in that one Abby game and looked fine.
Agree though that he shouldn't play very many minutes tonight...

Greener's got everyone concentrating on defense so I'm not expecting much scoring.

Ball games a bit of a write off Megs.
Looks like I'm tuning in at puck drop.
God knows what that might mean.

The morning skate lines are confirmed as the starting roster. Canucks need a solid first period. One where they are pushing the play for a change.
Maybe being the underdog is a good thing. A convincing win tonight would go a long way in building the team's confidence to where it needs to be.
