US Erection 12 *AND* 16 *AND* 20 *AND* 22 *AND* 24 *AND* Beyond

The primary goal of this site is to provide mature, meaningful discussion about the Vancouver Canucks. However, we all need a break some time so this forum is basically for anything off-topic, off the wall, or to just get something off your chest! This forum is named after poster Creeper, who passed away in July of 2011 and was a long time member of the Canucks message board community.

Right, they are taking it to the Supreme Court because the lower courts got it wrong....
Actually, no. They tried that, but the SCOTUS declined to hear them, seeing no fault in the decisions in the lower courts.

Instead they came up with this weird hail/heil whatever from the sidelines.

Per wrote: Fri Dec 11, 2020 11:30 am They should have challenged it before the election, not after.
They can legally challenge it whenever they choose prior to Dec 14th.
Yeahno. I mean, sure, technically. But one of the main arguments the SCOTUS made in 2000 for stopping the Florida recount was that it was past Safe Harbour Day and so the result could no longer be overturned.

You think a bunch of conservative judges want to overturn that reasoning? :D

Texas is not trying to inflict its own laws on other states.

Texas is saying those other states broke their own laws to the detriment of America.
Well, so you say...
The suit’s legal argument is deeply flawed, legal experts said.

Texas appears to have no claim to pursue the case, which would extend Monday’s deadline for certification of presidential electors in Georgia, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. It relies on a novel theory that Texas can dictate how other states run their elections because voting irregularities elsewhere harm the rights of Texans.

The Paxton case fails to establish why Texas has a right to interfere with the process through which other states award their votes in the Electoral College, said Edward B. Foley, a law professor at Ohio State University and director of its election law program. The authority to manage elections falls to the states individually, not in any sort of collective sense that the Paxton suit implies.

“They all do what they do,” Mr. Foley said. “For Texas to try to complain about what Georgia, Pennsylvania and these other states have done would be a lot like Massachusetts complaining about how Texas elects its senators.”

Typically state attorneys general are protective of their rights and wary of Supreme Court intervention, which Mr. Foley said makes this case unusual. “This is just the opposite,” he said. “It would be an unprecedented intrusion into state sovereignty.”
https://www.nytimes.com/2020/12/10/tech ... pe=Article

But you know what? We both know this isn’t about the election. Texas Attorney General Paxton knows his challenge has no chance of winning, but this is not about that. Paxton is indicted for securities fraud in Texas; a rare case in deed when a state charges its own AG for severe criminal actions... and as if that wasn’t enough, there is also an ongoing investigation regarding corruption that stems from multiple whistle blowers within his own administration. And to make things worse, last week it turned out the FBI is investigating him as well. So, at least three criminal trials in his near future, and there seems to be plenty of evidence.
What’s the poor guy to do? Well, make sure Donald Trump takes notice and throws him a presidential pardon.

And that’s what this is really about. Not ”Texans rights being infringed by election procedures in far away states...”
It’s about Paxton trying to win a get out of jail card. :look:

I'm really enjoying how Per just keeps regurgitating various reporting sources that are all WELL KNOWN to be anti-Republican, anti-Trump, and very pro liberal left.

It's like.....sooooo these guys are legit sources compared to other "alt" sources that lean completely the other way simply because of reputation?

No.

It's because they pour you kool-aid that your own personal views and opinions love to drink.

It's just like Rebel News here in Canada. They ask hard questions that require integrity to answer honestly, so because politicians don't like to answer those questions they try to ban them from events.

This leaves the mainstream, left loving, spin doctors, as the "reputable" source of what "really" is going on.

But hey, you keep on regurgitating it all Per. :P

All 50 states and D.C. have now certified their 2020 election results:

Biden 81,282,376 (51.3%)
Trump 74,222,576 (46.9%)

That's a 2.4 point margin swing against Trump vs. 2016 and a 15.9% increase in votes cast.
adios muchachos Trumpster

Yeah, you can bitch about the main stream media, but they have a proven track record and a reputation to uphold. There are left wing sites that are as conspiracy minded and looney as their alt right equivalents, but I stay clear of those.

BAHAHAHAAHAHAHAAHA! Per! Are you serious!?? Their reputation and longevity is EXACTLY why they get away with the spin control they employ and the softball questioning.

When politicians are not OK with a particular reporter or media franchise because they ask questions that will expose actions and inactions on the part of the politicians that said politicians KNOW FULL WELL will piss off the voting public, or worse would land anyone without political connections a court date as a defendant, but on the flip side are OK with the journalists who DON'T ask those questions and simply follow the narrative.....what exactly is the reputation that is being upheld?
