ESQ wrote: Tue Dec 08, 2020 2:35 pm Well, if you choose to take the view that the League giving up and acquiescing is you "proving that beyond the shadow of a doubt", I don't think there's any point to debating any further!
The league giving up and acquiescing is not how I proved it. :eh:

Showing how the league has every right to cancel the season due to the language in the present CBA

... is how I proved it. :hmmm:

Our debate was never about WILL the league cancel the season.

It was about COULD the league cancel the season.

Hell, we don't even know if the league ever actually threatened to cancel the season!

What we do know is that the league asked the players to defer more money according to the spirit of the CBA

... and that the players replied "Nope, we'll take more than our 50% this year and let future players pay that back."

End. Of. Story.

Yeah, looks like we'll have hockey back again soon.

But I thought the current players shorting the next generation of players was a pretty gangster move.

.
Of course the NHL will no doubt pro-rate the players salaries.

56 games is 68% of 82 games.

So players would get 68% of their salaries [EDITED] minus 20% escrow, minus 10% deferment.

Still more than they should get, those greedy sons of bitches...

Thoughts ESQ? :mex:

Over the Internet, you can pretend to be anyone or anything.

I'm amazed that so many people choose to be complete twats.

Frank Seravalli @frank_seravalli
Lots discussed on the NHLPA Exec Board call today, much of which is still in discussion/negotiation with the NHL.

Talk of expanded rosters, from 23 to 26, with 4 additional taxi squad members for total of 30. Taxi squad could earn AHL salary but receive NHL benefits and per diem.

A little tricky posturing will have to be done for some teams up against the cap, (ahem), to carry 3 extra players regularly. Would an allowance be made?

I think the idea of the 4 taxi squad players is a good one. If the Utica Comets have a regular season, don't see how it can be in Utica. Not only because of BC's 14 day quarantine period but I think things are worse that neck of the wood anyways. Much to be worked out for sure.

Question; With all these, (potentially), extra players waiting around, practicing, working hard, spending time with the coaches.........
Would a regular take it to his finest level or start squeezing the stick and stink the place out? Ah well, guess competition is a good thing.
