If he was even slightly more durable I would agree but youre only getting 50-60 games a year out of him.

I would say a max 2 year deal at 4.5 is possibly fair value but with term? Forget it. For reference, the canucks organization agrees with my position
The Canucks were offering 4.25 over three years so they obviously don’t think 4.5 is too outlandish for a Tanev. Nor should they considering they are paying Myers 6 million, Eriksson 6 million and 4.35 and 3 million for the corpses of Brandon Sutter and Jay Beagle. At the end of the day I probably. agree that four years is a year too long but the Flames aren’t riddled with a bunch of shitty contracts so it probably shouldn’t hurt them too much.

Well Benning always shells out 1 year too long for UFAs so that only validates my assessment.

Where did you hear about the canucks offer? Is that fact or Stringtie Messiah rumour mongering?

Nah it wasn’t JD Burke... maybe McIntyre or Kuzma. Either way a D of Hughes, Schmidt, Edler, Tanev, Myers as a top 5 is excellent. You can easily break in a kid or two and keep Benn around as depth. Not gonna beat the dead horse that the bad contracts are killing the teams depth.

As for one year too long regarding Elmer’s contracts..., Sutter’s and Beagle’s were two years too long. Eriksson’s deal is four years too long.

https://canucksarmy.com/2020/10/09/repo ... l-calgary/ McIntyre is in the video that goes with this/ didn't mention CT. Did somewhere
The Canucks’ reportedly offered Tanev a two-year deal in the $4 million range.

When Canucks general manager Jim Benning spoke to media this afternoon, he said that Tanev planned to sleep on it and make the Canucks aware of his decision by Saturday morning. It now appears as though Tanev had an afternoon nap before coming to a decision this evening.
and the rest is history.
He will be missed though! Nate will be good and his attendance over his career is much better but many of the Canucks will miss CT.
Had become a good leader on the ice and in the room.
He did what he thought was right for himself and he'd earned that right. Jim Benning acquired a top four (top pair on this team), and I have
no doubts that Quinn Hughes will have Nate adoring Vancouver.

And it was reported the Canucks came up a bit in salary and offered a third year but Calgary’s offer trumped them. The top four is better, no doubt about it. The bottom 4 is worse until it proves it isn’t.

Losing CT to cowgrease is like your ex banging someone you hate. Some guys are glad shes not their problem any longer, others get all mad and jerk off to the thought...

The question is....which one is Doyle? I think I can guess...
