I know we shouldn't blame the player for his deal, but if Loui thought he was hated here before, well he doesn't know what's coming.givemeda411 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 06, 2020 12:31 pm Looks like Tyler Toffoli will likely head to Free Agency. - Friedman

That’s probably why they qualified Jake. It was one or the other.givemeda411 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 06, 2020 12:31 pm Looks like Tyler Toffoli will likely head to Free Agency. - Friedman

... and that, ladies and gentlemen, I’d how 100% speculation gets turned into a rumour!!

I haven’t seen anywhere that they’ve qualified VirtanenCherry Picker wrote: ↑Tue Oct 06, 2020 12:45 pmThat’s probably why they qualified Jake. It was one or the other.givemeda411 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 06, 2020 12:31 pm Looks like Tyler Toffoli will likely head to Free Agency. - Friedman

His agent said, he expects Jake to be qualified later today. That's just due diligence on the Canucks part, I expect both JV and Stretcher to be qualified but traded before the start of the season.Doyle Hargraves wrote: ↑Tue Oct 06, 2020 1:14 pmI haven’t seen anywhere that they’ve qualified VirtanenCherry Picker wrote: ↑Tue Oct 06, 2020 12:45 pmThat’s probably why they qualified Jake. Still crickets. I think I need to start a new rumour.
If Marky chooses not to sign, Fleury for Eriksson straight up?
They can’t move Fleury for free even when they’re attaching a 2nd.
Vegas wants him gone and they save one million in cap if they make the trade.
Fleury makes sense as a tandem with Demko and is cheaper than Eriksson plus what Marky Would sign for.
Fleury cap hit of 7M for two seasons and he can be exposed to Seattle, which is cheaper than Eriksson 6M and Marky 5M = 11M cap hit.
This is the same reasoning as the rumoured Lundquist trade before he was bought out. (Yah that was my rumour, too.

Now dish off Loui, Rooster, and Beagle... bring in OEL... and re-sign Marky and Tanev.

Loved Toffoli and wish we could've kept him, and really hate losing those assets(!). But something didn't feel right with me on the right side with both Boeser and Toffoli moving forward. Neither are speed demons and one thing I didn't like bowing out to Vegas was how our team speed, or lack there of, got totally exposed. Also Boeser didn't/doesn't belong on the 2nd PP unit, so something had to give and of the two I would prefer to keep Boeser.
As for the assets lost, it's the cost of "going for it" which the team signalled with the Miller trade. Teams ready to compete now, which at the time was debatable if the Canucks are that team and have since proved, typically make rental deals to give them that extra push in the playoffs. This now qualifies as one of those rental trades that didn't work out as desired but could've had it not been for an unfortunate injury. Too bad.
So that's the bad news. The good news is Toffoli's money can be used elsewhere on other areas that are less redundant. Either it goes to the other internal deals being worked on or OEL, or perhaps it goes to a less expensive winger for Bo or a 3rd line center..hopefully players with speed. There's other fish out there, let's go fishing.

Pagnotta:
"Still a very possible Toffoli and the Canucks figure things out, mutual interest on both sides remains."
Guess we wait on the Marky situation to unfold first.

Can the Canucks just win a Cup within the next 5 years.

Dreger with some info:
Demko is a keeper (no pun)
Think Arizona wanted Demko initially but that should be an automatic hang up the phone for Benning.
Only way Armstrong should be bold enough to ask for a prospect of that substance is to take a Sutter or Eriksson back.
