That’s pretty fucked up. I know a couple guys who played in the Dub years ago. They have never mentioned anything like that happening... they did say there was some crazy shit, teabagging, humiliation, dressing in drag and some shaving etc. Never that kind of shit.Megaterio Llamas wrote: ↑Thu Jun 18, 2020 2:37 pmCarcillo spearheads class action lawsuit against CHL, member teams

Regarding COVID, I believe the 2nd wave will be much less severeReefer2 wrote: ↑Wed Jun 24, 2020 8:44 am Looking at how COVID19 will impact our lives and the NHL for the next 12 to 24 months I am predicting some significant changes occurring in the NHL over this time.
As COVID19 has wreaked havoc on cap I believe the NHL and NHLPA will agree to amend the current agreement to give each team 2 buy outs. This allows teams to sign their rising stars. With the Cap staying the same or even going down many team are going to run into problems and they cannot use what they thought would be extra cap space to sign younger guys.
The NHLPA will agree to this as the players getting bought out are still paid their full amount and they can then sign another contract.

That would screw with two years' worth of FAs, to the enormous benefit of FAs in 22/23.Mëds wrote: ↑Mon Apr 27, 2020 9:20 amI don't think a compliance buy-out will happen either.
But I do think a Covid buy-out will likely happen.
In all seriousness I think it still happens. Enough teams were going to be strapped close to the cap with players to re-sign, not just the Canucks. Most, if not all, GM's build their roster's cap structure with an eye on the future that assumes the salary cap will continue to increase as profits increase.
This is an unforeseen circumstance and too many good players are free agents this summer who won't be getting paid as expected. I can see the owners, GM's, and PA, all pushing for this.
The NHL and NHLPA can negotiate any salary cap number they want.
(regardless of if P/Os are canceled and $1B in revenue is lost)
And from how I understand it, it is in the best interests of both to go with a flat cap if that revenue is lost.
WHOA NELLY! That's not just the owner's money Bucko, that is also the player's money!
CBOs directly affect HRR, meaning every CBO hits the players in the pocketbooks.
The last round of CBO's cost the players over 3% of their salaries.
(note: last time CBOs could not be avoided, this time they can be avoided)
Again, the NHL and NHLPA can negotiate any salary cap number they want.
(you make it sound as though a cap drop is out of their control)
Secondly, if the cap WERE to drop, what makes you so "sure a majority of owners would be in favor of CBOs"?
CBOs help the very rich teams and those in a massive cap crunch... that's not "the majority of teams".
But as I said, there is no need to let the cap drop, so this is mute as far as I'm concerned.
I think I've already answered this question in my post... unless I'm missing something?
Anyway, if "owners like to make money" they will say 'no' to CBOs.
Likewise, if the players like money, they will say 'no' to CBOs.
If the season/POs are canceled, the players will already be in a position where they have to pay back the owners
... they're definitely not going to want to add to that pain with CBOs.
As I've mentioned a few times, if P/Os are canceled, there won't be enough in escrow to reimburse the owners.
(players are effectively paid playoff revenues in advance of the playoffs)
So what would happen is they would get a smaller percentage of the pie the next season to make up for it.
(instead of their usual 50% of the pie, maybe they only get something like 45%?)
(this is in the CBA, although the two sides could agree to spread that payback over 2 or 3 seasons)
Yeahno, a flat cap makes the most sense for both sides, which is why you see that rumoured everywhere...
Owners don't want CBOs, players don't want CBOs, just the fans want CBOs.Slavko Bekovic

I'm not exactly holding out a ton of hope for this thing to go away quickly. I'll be pretty surprised if we see NHL playoffs this summer.
I will use common sense and listen to the experts vs. listening to someone who just say what ever their master thinks they should say. Even if there is a vaccine available by the end the year, which is very low probability, they still need to have the vaccine available for several hundred million people which will take more than a week to get done.Strangelove wrote: ↑Wed Jun 24, 2020 2:14 pmI agree with your last sentence.Mëds wrote: ↑Wed Jun 24, 2020 1:59 pmAccording to the medical director of the company I work for we should expect to see revolving phases of locking down and reopening over the next 1 to 3 years until a vaccine is developed.....this was as of this morning.Strangelove wrote: ↑Wed Jun 24, 2020 1:42 pm Regarding COVID, I believe the 2nd wave will be much less severe

Yeahno, that's what Dr Fauci is talking about: A vaccine available for hundreds of millions of people by the end of the year.
I gave compelling reasons for what I think.Reefer2 wrote: ↑Wed Jun 24, 2020 3:11 pmOh I saw this but I think you are wrong, I guess we will find out in the next 6 months who is correct.Strangelove wrote: ↑Wed Jun 24, 2020 1:42 pm Owners don't want CBOs, players don't want CBOs, just the fans want CBOs.![]()
