Sounds like Swedish UFA F Mathias Brome has chosen DET for his NHL home

It was between Vancouver and Detroit. https://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdi ... pid=172984
I don't think the timing was right for the Canucks. Maybe if they had more of their house in order....
Still too much to do.
... more of their house in order?!?
Wtf does that even mean?? Every team has things to do this time of year. Usually it's play hockey for a few of them. These contracts happen every year at this time. Off-season choices like Contracts, player and coaching decisions, team direction, personnel, etc happen later, and every team is delayed this year. It has nothing to do with 'their house' and everything to do with where does the kid think he will get a better chance to play. He isn't breaking into this lineup for at least 2-3 years.
Detroit is less talented and deep than us and he has chance of earning a spot there in 1-2 years.
It's that simple.
The 'Chain of Command' is the chain I am going to beat you with until you understand I am in charge.
He didn't nail fuck all, except make a lame attempt at jerkin off over a post there was nothing wrong with.
He had been rumored and or linked to a few teams and it apparently came down to Vancouver and Detroit.
Detroit has space right now. We don't. Not yet.
Maybe you guys should ask Canuck's management if they had interest.
Geez! I'll be glad when the team gets back to playing. People have a tendency to have better focus.
Holy crap Mick. His agent had said a few weeks back that it may boil down to where he feels he will get a bigger role and more playing time at this point in his development. I knew right then he wasn't coming to Vancouver. It has everything to do with ice time and a top six role. He wasn't going to get that here, not because we don't have our house in order, but because he would have stiffer competition to try and get a top six role and could very well be looking at Utica.
I didn't know his prerequisite demand was a top six. Sorry.
I can, however, think of two or three in the bottom six that I'd consider having him take the place of.
They still have contractual agreements in order place.
I'm not going to lose any sleep over it.
But it woul.........................................

You said it yourself: Canucks were interested in Brome.
Are you also saying they couldn't sign him due to "contractual agreements"?

He wouldn’t be good enough for our bottom 6, Id much rather play proven nhler’s like gaudette, virtanen, macewen, leivo, motte, sutter, beagle. He’d be utica depth. I even forgot ferland, and roussel.

Only thing I jerked off on was you mom the other morning. If your gonna get bent out of shape over a question, your just gonna get bent.
So, you still didn’t answer. Why would you say the Canucks house isn’t it in order?
Or do you just like Losing your shit over silly posts you make??

I'm not really. Not really.
I shouldn't make a statement that indicates something for everyone. My bad.
As for as I'm concerned, Our the Canuck's house wont be in order until Eriksson Eriksson's contract is off the books.
I generally feel, to a lesser degree, the same way about Sutter and Beagle. Only fair to mention Baertschi as well.
There is also the matter of needing to sign or make decisions some principal players, signing or re-signing.

But what would any of that have to do with signing Brome?
You said:

Brome comes in on an ELC = low cap hit.
If there are some bad contracts on the books like you say, isn't that the perfect time to sign a low cap hit guy?
Yeahno. Canucks would not have pursued Brome if "the timing wasn't right".
As an aside...
...there are always 'balls in the air'... how do you know... that GMJB doesn't know... that 1 or more of those guys will be gone?
Hell, who knows, maybe the house will be in great order next season!
(next season is when Brome's contract comes on the books for Detroit)
So, rumour has it that the league is trying to start back up in June with some kind of playoff format.. the new off-season becomes September/October with a delayed start to a full season next year around thanksgiving and those playoffs happen in the summer of 2021.. and the league continues with this new format schedule becoming the only sport going through the summer (excluding the dog days of baseball).
So we would be looking at hockey playoffs every summer moving forward.
The traditionalist in me thinks this sucks, but then I think sitting on my deck crushing beers watching playoff sports when there really is no other relevant sports on TV would be awesome..
Thoughts?
