Trudeau already hinted at it. You can’t have the banks foreclosing in millions of homes and landlords punting renters out into the streets.

Over the Internet, you can pretend to be anyone or anything.
I'm amazed that so many people choose to be complete twats.

I had a realtor call me to tell me I should sell now as the market will collapse in about three months. I asked him where I should live. He said take a long closing date, sell high now, when the market collapses buy low. I told him to fuck off.
He said all the Chinese will be liquidating their offshore assets to put it back into the Chinese economy. I said fuck off.

The real estate market won’t collapse. It will crater a bit for sure. A lot of people only have 20-30 % equity in their places now and some maybe less due to the last correction. They said shit like this in 08 too.

Well it did collapse in Florida. And Spain.Doyle Hargraves wrote: ↑Tue Mar 17, 2020 11:50 am The real estate market won’t collapse. It will crater a bit for sure. Probably a few more places too.
The people that are really going to hurt now is the travel business.
Scandinavian Airlines have given 90% of their employees notice. They are not fired yet, but have been told they will be let go in a few months. If things start to brighten up, the company can take it back and have them stay on
Norwegian Airlines has also given some 2000 employees notice.
Scandic Hotels plan to layoff half their staff.
The British budget airline FlyMe has filed for bankrupcy.
I expect huge layoffs and loads of bankrupcies throughout. Air lines, hotels, convention centres, resorts, even restaurants.
It could take decades for the business to recover.

Oh I fully expect it to dip back down again. That’s a given. It was on is way back up again the last six months. But it don’t think it will completely tank. Can’t see it. Then again I try to look at the positive side of thingsPer wrote: ↑Tue Mar 17, 2020 12:13 pmWell it did collapse in Florida. A huge difference is that housing and bad loans were right at the centre of that financial crisis though. This time it’s not truly a financial crisis; it’s a sharp drop in demand for certain services, caused by attempts to quarantine populations from a spreading It spills over to finances, housing, etc, and there will be lots of bankrupcies and layoffs, but there is no bubble deflating, it’s just people sitting on their couch instead of working, travelling and socializing. If things become normal fairly soon, most things will bounce back, but with the tight margins they have in the travel industry, I fear a lot of companies will go belly up rather rapidly, and then those jobs are gone.Doyle Hargraves wrote: ↑Tue Mar 17, 2020 12:25 pmOh I fully expect it to dip back down again. Exactly - Jt loves this, he can go on TV everyday and say " we can get through this together" then big hugs for all.Doyle Hargraves wrote: ↑Tue Mar 17, 2020 9:28 am Trudeau already hinted at it. But reality is that people do need support, those that cannot work from home are the largest group to be impacted. If we nip this bugger in the butt now then it will mean a 2 month issue and then things will start up again. Wave 2 will be the next question - how big will that be?

People are going stir crazy now. What will happen if we do a real shut down?
Some beaches in Florida absolutely packed today while their primary was cancelled. Cant see people voluntarily sheltering in place for long.
Most projections, conservative projections, saying this will go on for at least 45 more days. Everyone seems to be banking on getting back to business as usual by or around May 1.
We will never ever know if this was an over reaction or not. If we reacted this way every flu season we would see the same results. At least the world is getting onto the same page at the same time for a good part anyway. It does no good to have some enact strict protocols and others do nothing, or little.
As long as Skip keeps delivering I can survive!!

So 103 identified cases yesterday in BC... 186 today.B.C. declares public health emergency with 186 cases of COVID-19 and 7 deaths
B.C. provincial health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry says B.C. has confirmed 83 new cases of COVID-19. Three more people have died of the novel coronavirus.
She says the province is declaring a public health emergency. B.C. has now identified a total of 186 patients, of whom seven have died.
"This declaration of an emergency allows me to be faster, more streamlined and nimble," Henry told reporters Tuesday.
She said that all bars are ordered to close. Businesses that remain open, including grocery stores and pharmacies, should take measures to ensure social distancing — about one to two metres between all people — and restaurants and cafes that can't meet that requirement must switch to takeout only.
"There are many places in our community that aren't able to meet that criteria … must close," Henry said.
