So, how does this affect the Canucks chances at the Cup?Strangelove wrote: ↑Fri Mar 06, 2020 5:25 pmW.H.O. says the Coronavirus death rate is 3.4% and the seasonal flu death rate is 0.1%

So yeah, not "somewhat deadlier"... 34 times deadlier!![]()
But the worst part is... it's "spreading like the plague".![]()
Highly contagious.
These numbers/rates are subject to change as the virus mutates of course.
This may/may-not be the bug that kills millions/billions, but said bug will be along eventually...

Hold on doc, when quoting the 3.4% death rate, i don’t think they have all the data. That’s just from confirmed cases of corona virus, there would be thousands if not millions that would have contracted it had mild to no symptoms and never got diagnosed. So the 3.4% is for the people that got really sick and went for medical help so it skews it to seem like a higher death rate. Coronavirus like rhinovirus are very easily transmitted so there’s most likely a lot more that have been infected than what’s shown. It’ll be rough in old folks home though. Also coronaviruses are fairly immune to mutation.Strangelove wrote: ↑Fri Mar 06, 2020 5:25 pmW.H.O. says the Coronavirus death rate is 3.4% and the seasonal flu death rate is 0.1%

True, and it mentions this in the linked article.Richardstroker69 wrote: ↑Sat Mar 07, 2020 5:39 pm Hold on doc, when quoting the 3.4% death rate, i don’t think they have all the data. But they are making the usual educated estimates here.
Just like they always have with that 0.1% seasonal flu death rate estimate.
(most people with dat dere also "never got diagnosed" right?)
Not true:

"Viruses are always mutating, especially RNA viruses like this one, coronavirus SARS-CoV-2."
Yeahno, I'm afraid we're all doomed my good man.

Starting today, #NHL plans to close dressing room access to media, on recommendation of Centers for Disease Control in effort to stop the spread of coronavirus. NBA, MLB and MLS are expected to follow. Media availabilities will now be conducted in formal press conference areas.

Keep in mind though that the love of your life, The Don, has stated he doesn’t believe in those numbers, that they in all likelyhood are much lower, and that it is all a hoax.Strangelove wrote: ↑Fri Mar 06, 2020 5:25 pmW.H.O. says the Coronavirus death rate is 3.4% and the seasonal flu death rate is 0.1%

Bowen Byram with a couple of goals last night now has 52 points in 50 games. He’s scored 31points in his last 17 games. After a slow start to the season his play has picked up since he won a gold medal for Team Canada at the WJC. Nice to see a BC kid do well.

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)
hey, if I have a 3.4% chance of dying from Coronavirus, I am just hoping my Canucks have at least a 3.5% chance of winning the Cup before I die.
We won't even get into the other side effects. Less congestion on the freeways. Shorter waits in line ups. Lower ticket prices on cruise ships. Less over-crowding at the beach, etc.
The Cup is soooooo ours!!!!!!!

Doyle would still rather have McCann instead of Pearson. Unbelievable.
