Re: Canucks Young Guns
There was a very good interview with Weisbrod on 650 yesterday. When talking about Rafferty Weisbrod mentioned they are working on his defensive zone game and skating techniques in D-zone, his pivoting. Says he’s an offensive super talent but they are working on some things with him. He also said they prefer to take their time with developing their young D prospects in the minors longer than the forwards because defence at the pro level is very hard and if you make mistakes it can be quite scarring for a young kid.

Young kids sometimes get scarred, especially skulleted ones.Chef Boi RD wrote: ↑Tue Jan 21, 2020 6:26 am There was a very good interview with Weisbrod on 650 yesterday. That skullet tossing must have been something out of a cartoon. Young kid skulking around looks like he’s about 30, leering at the players in the shower. Long mane down his hairy back, huge bald patch on his dome and kinda hopping on razor thin chicken legs.

Juolevi - 12 points over his last 11 games and a plus 12. There’s that plus/minus thing again that Doyle sometimes respects or doesn’t respect. It just depends on who you’re talking about.

If Juolevi can come out of nowhere and play half decent defense in Vancouver thats huge. Theyre going to need a few affordable assets with upside like that once Hughes and Pettersson get their 10 million dollar paydaysChef Boi RD wrote: ↑Tue Jan 21, 2020 6:51 am Juolevi - 12 points over his last 11 games and a plus 12. Juolevi, Podkolzin, Hoglander, Rafferty, Woo and Lind could be the difference makers for us. It'll allow us to shed expensive vets and plug the holes with these kids much like the Penguins have had to do with their giant contracts

Very nice to see both Juolevi and Lind take big steps forward this year. We are going to need their ELC's once Hughes and Petey get raises.Chef Boi RD wrote: ↑Tue Jan 21, 2020 6:51 am Juolevi - 12 points over his last 11 games and a plus 12. Re: Canucks Young Guns
Stupid question probably but can Tryampkin play this year or the playoffs? Some teams are able to add players late in the year and i have no idea what the rules are regarding this. Didn't carolina just bring back Williams?
I'm thinking once his contract is fullfilled in the khl. Their season ends in april i believe

Yep, that's what a pipeline looks like. It took six seasons to get from one prospect and nothing on the farm, to one of the youngest cores in the league, perennial Calder finalists, a very good farm team, and some of the best prospects still not in the NA pro system. The Brown Wizard wrote: ↑Tue Jan 21, 2020 7:28 am

Patience is being rewarded with one of the fastest rebuilds in league history, and what looks to be a solid foundation moving forward - all with no luck in the draft lottery or with injuries.

I'll go out on a limb and suggest that we won't see a blockbuster trade from Benning. Doesn't seem to be his style. And I'm okay with that.ESQ wrote: ↑Tue Jan 21, 2020 9:51 amYep, that's what a pipeline looks like. It is reasonable to think there is a possibility both Rafferty and Juolevi "could' become regulars on the blue line next year.Chef Boi RD wrote: ↑Tue Jan 21, 2020 6:26 am There was a very good interview with Weisbrod on 650 yesterday. It would immensely aid in our cap space in that both Tanev and Stecher would not be resigned. These are tough calls that will have to be made.
Obvious reasons, in particular, two of them--after next year.
