You think he will? Two years ago Daniel Norbe won the scoring race with 173 points, if Dahlen maintains 3 points/game he won't beat that.

Any idea why he didn't go up a league in Sweden?

I guess he just felt homesick. Wanted to get back to his old surroundings. Old team, old friends, etc. Start over.
That’s the one thing that worries me.
For his development it would probably have been better to play in the SHL, but he insisted on going back to Timrå.
If it’s loyalty - fine.
If it’s fear of the unknown - not so good.

Hockeyallsvenskan has started and in his first game for Timrå, Jonathan Dahlén had two goals and one assist as they beat Vita Hästen 4-3.

Aftonbladet commented that he returned home after having had troubles adjusting to the North American game and not least coaching style. I still think the Canucks messed up big time with this kid. He will win the scoring race in this league again, just as he did two years ago, and probably be named MVP again as well.

I assume the sharks own him now, right?

I'm no fan of Cull, but I suspect there's a reasonable amount of immaturity at play here as well. It sure doesn't seem like he's taking a step back and playing the long game, rather he's running back to what's safe and secure. If it were a coaching issue the canucks may have been able to place him with a different AHL team or put him into the ECHL. Then, once moved to the Sharks, why not try there? It's possible the problem is with the agent and now he's tainted goods. That said, I would have thought somebody in the SEL might take a swing at him.

Ultimately, those to make it to the NHL and stick there have everything go right for them and in this case it seems like he's not got the necessary patience right now to make the right choices. Maybe in a year or so he'll be in a better place to have a crack. As Pettersson and Dahlin show, you can jump from the SHL to the NHL, but that doesn't mean that's what Dahlen is entitled to or is able to do.

I agree it could be a maturity issue. Let’s face it, these kids in their late teens / early twenties may be great athletes, but they’re still kids. Crossing the Atlantic, living on your own, feeling you’re in a hostile environment, it takes a strong mentality.
Maybe Jonathan needs to mature a bit more mentally before making a new attempt.
He has the skills, but perhaps he hasn’t the mental strength necessary. That could change with age.

Two more points by Dahlén, including the gwg, as Timrå beat Södertälje 3-2 at in their first game at home.
That brings him to 5 points in 2 games.

Oh, and this photo of the fans welcoming him back with some first class tifo while the players warmed up for the game could perhaps provide some clue to why he opted for going back to Timrå.....
