There is nothing dynamic about Laines game, he’s a one trick pony. Make a point of watching his shifts, he’s useless beyond his shot. Boeser is much more dynamic than Laine. Boeser is also a very good passer, stick handler and play maker.ESQ wrote: ↑Sat Sep 21, 2019 3:09 pmLaine may have more peak upside than Brock, but its tough to say because I don't think we've seen a healthy Brock since December of his rookie year when he broke his wrist.micky107 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 21, 2019 10:53 am .
Laine isn't as good as Boeser. His attendance is better but he didn't get checked into a fu*king solid wood bench door opening either.
Any comparison to what he wants and what Marner got is about as laughable as it gets.
He's a big dullard and needs to be fed the puck like like pablum on a spoon, do do anything with it.
I agree with you though Mick, I wouldn't give up much in Trade for him, nor would I sign him to a massive contract.

Could you imagine Fortnite Finn on our powerplay and Edler won't pass to him?
In another couple of years, Laine will have no more flow, while Brockstar will take off his lid and that glorious mane will still be spilling out.

I had both on my fantasy teams for the past two seasons. As a rookie, Boeser was unbelievably reliable. Last season, Laine was a total bum, he got half of his goals in an unreal week and a half, but scoring in bushels in 3 or 4 games a year doesn't really but it.

Count me among the consensus that would take Boeser over Laine every day. The difference between them, among other things, is attitude and dressing room chemistry. Boeser seems the much better fit for Vancouver’s core. You can tell he’s a good presence in the dressing room and has good bonds with his teammates. Laine? Not so much. Boeser seems more the kind of player you win with when the going gets tough.

This still only 21 year old - 6'5" Laine goal production is off the charts.
2019 30 goals (injured season). Playoffs 6pg, 3g.
2018 44 goals. Playoffs 17gp, 5g, 7 assists.
2017 36 goals.
This guy will be a NHL goal scoring record breaker in some form or fashion.
Jets should pay this man his money or trade him out of the conference for 2 or 3 solid pieces.
Laine to Sabres for
Sam Reinhart + Risto
to NYI for
Pulock + Beauvillier
To Canes for
Pesce + Martin Necas
to Flyers for
Patrick + Gostisbehere
--
As for Tanev boy, playing with Hughes will be his key to success - that is where Tanev shines bright best with is a QB lefty.

Skyo, you have to check out Laine's game log. He got 13 goals in 10 days in November.
He was ice cold most of the year - 3 goals in October,3 in December, 1 in January, 4 in Feb, 1 in March.
If he could put up that November performance say, twice a year, he could break records. But as it is, I can't help but think his best days are behind him at 21.

So are you writing off Laine at 21? Hell he’s the same age as Juolevi, same draft even. Is the book written on Laine?

It be scary thinking of Laine with Barzal, McDavid or Tavares, dude would go buck wild, he's scoring all those goals at such a young age with mostly mediocre centermen, he even admitted as such, iirc Laine's main center he's been with is Bryan Little, Jets tried to upgrade a couple times by giving up two 1st rounders for rentals in Stastny and Hayes.ESQ wrote: ↑Sun Sep 22, 2019 8:13 pmSkyo, you have to check out Laine's game log. Plus he scored 30 with an injured back for christ sake.
Give him a decent center and he'll be sniping 40, 50+ goals in easily per season. Also I believe Laine in his prime can score 60 goals.
Boeser has been fortunate to have either Horvat or Petey to work with.........vastly better centers than Little.
Can't help but think this could be another Jets-Selanne-Ducks scenario.
1996 - Winnipeg would send Selanne, Marc Chouinard and a fourth-round pick to Anaheim in exchange for Tverdovsky, Kilger and a third-round pick (used on Per-Anton Lundstrom, who never played in the NHL).

No question Laine is an elite talent. Needs some work on his off-ice demeanor. Think the whole league knows that now.
Everyone remembers the rivalry between him and Mathews.

Hey! Per-Anton Lundström?!
That's a Björklöven player!

Nowhere near as good as Patrik Sundström, Peter Sundström, Peter Andersson, Ulf Dahlén or Calle Johansson, but still.
Only current birchleaf in the NHL I can think of is Lucas Wallmark, who plays for the Hurricanes.
The pastor at our local church, when I was a kid, was Staffan Wallmark.
I assume they must be related somehow.
Oh, other way around though; Vancouver's 2009 round 6 #173 overall pick Joe Cannata is now in the crease for Björklöven in Hockeyallsvenskan!

I understand he sat on the bench one game for Vancouver in 2015/16?

Laine
One trick pony
Teammates don’t care for him
Pouts when’s his teammates don’t pass to him
Gives up on the play when his shots don’t go in
Selfish
But yeah he’s got a great shot, beyond that he’s awful.

Laine doesnt forecheck. He waits on pucks like Virtanen.SKYO wrote: ↑Sun Sep 22, 2019 11:37 pmIt be scary thinking of Laine with Barzal, McDavid or Tavares, dude would go buck wild, he's scoring all those goals at such a young age with mostly mediocre centermen, he even admitted as such, iirc Laine's main center he's been with is Bryan Little, Jets tried to upgrade a couple times by giving up two 1st rounders for rentals in Stastny and Hayes.ESQ wrote: ↑Sun Sep 22, 2019 8:13 pmSkyo, you have to check out Laine's game log. Exactly Youdels. But at least Laine scores more than Jake and has enough intel to find the space and time to get open for a shot. Jake doesn’t know what Jake is gonna do as soon as Jake hops the boards for his shift. Jake doesn’t even study the game when on the bench waiting for his shift. Jake’s just happy he’s made it this far.

He has 110 goals in three seasons. A few klowns on this board have called him better than Matthews multiple times.
