Bestest, youngest, system of prospectful youths in the league!
Jerseys will again be donated to third-world countries from generous Leaves fans via the Scotiabank Arena ice drop-off system.
Paper or plastic?
Definitely paper. But since 67, some might choose plastic.

What's the new line from the Blue Jays? They have a lot of "years of commitment" or something?Strangelove wrote: ↑Wed Aug 21, 2019 3:21 pm

Marner's agent going to let the Zurich Lions of the Swiss League assist in leveraging Dubas. Nice.
Somewhere in NW BC trying (yet again) to trade a(nother) Swede…..

Marner could pay the insurance premium and go to leaves camp without a contract. What a circus that would be. Trade interest will grow as well as the days go by.

Reports are accurate the Marner camp has had discussions with Zurich. Wouldn’t be surprised to see him go there to train in early Sept. Dubas and Ferris met last week. Positive talks," but no progress."

During his nine-year tenure with the Toronto Maple leaves, Kadri wore No. 43 simply because it was the sweater handed to him at his first training camp. (He’s still rocking the @43_Kadri handle on social media.)
But after being traded to the Colorado Avalanche this summer — packaged with defence prospect Calle Rosen in exchange for Tyson Barrie and Alexander Kerfoot — Kadri decided to go back to No. 91, the number splashed on his back during his 78- and 93-point offensive explosions for the OHL London Knights in 2008-09 and 2009-10.
“New start, new number. I never wore that in the NHL, but I wore it in junior and had some great years with it. I just figured, hey, new team, new year, new number. Clean slate. That’s my mentality,” Kadri explains.
“I was always a big Paul Kariya fan growing up, and he wore nine, so I was always wearing variations of nine. I wore 19 my first year of junior [with the Kitchener Rangers], then my last couple years I reversed it to 91. It’s always been a variation on nine because my favourite player wore that number.”
Oh, sorry; guess this is the wrong thread.

Re: The Official CC "All Thing Leaves" thread
That Matthew’s contract is so bad for the whole league. Now everyone thinks they should get max money at the same term without selling any UFA years. That’s why no RFAs have signed yet. Should Brock get the same AAV if he signs a 4 year contract compared to a 7 year contract? He would if he were in Toronto. With McDavid he got max money, but he also signed a long term contract, and he has actually done something special in the league by winning a scoring title. Now everyone wants a Matthews contract. I bet half these RFA will be sitting out waiting for that short term max contract that just takes them into UFA years. Hopefully most GMs don’t get bent over like Dumbass. It would be better for the league if a few of these RFAs miss a whole season. 11.6 x 5 for a player that hasn’t earned that kind of money was dumb. He only got that contract because Dumbass thinks Matthews is as good as McDavid (without ever having proven it). He is statistically the third best player on the Leaves. I would not accept a contract less than his if I were Marner. Marner is clearly a better player. The funny thing is I’d rather have Aho on my team than any of the top paid players on the Leaves, and he only got 8.5, AND THAT WAS A FRIGGIN’ OFFER SHEET! So really neither Matthews nor Marner should be paid more than 8.5m. And they wouldn’t be if they had a GM who wasn’t brain dead. I can understand Tavares getting more, but he was a UFA.That should make a huge difference, but not in Toronto. But even the Tavares signing was dumb if the team now has three players making over 11 million and can’t afford any decent depth behind them. Sad, just sad.

Re: The Official CC "All Thing Leaves" thread
If Dumbass were fired and I was hired as GM, the first thing I’d do is trade Matthews and try to get back a youngish stud number one D who was on a decent priced long-term contract along with some high draft picks. I’d explain to the media that Dumbass had ruined the team’s salary structure and it would be fixed. It’s not about being cheap, it’s about trying to pay players what they have earned, and it’s about having enough cap space left to ice a competitive team that has decent depth. The team will still spend to the cap but distribute the cap money more intelligently. The second thing would be to give a final offer to Marner at 7 x 8.5m and let him sit until it was signed. If he did sit out the year, it would help to educate the players and agents that there is a reason that they use the word “restricted” when they discuss RFAs. For the long term competitiveness of the club, it’s better to be reasonably hard-nosed with RFAs.

Really good post, CP. It's a mess now. I don't want to lose Boeser but it's almost September and all the biggies, (and their money-lusting agents),Cherry Picker wrote: ↑Wed Aug 28, 2019 7:37 am That Matthew’s contract is so bad for the whole league. still waiting, basically, for Marner and how that's structured.
It would be difficult, nearly impossible now to go backwards and nothing regarding player's "status", (term for RFA, entry, UFA) will be touched via a new CBA now.
4 or 5 year mega deals are completely destructive.
Mathews scores 4 goals in his first freakin game--yikes.
