Next year it can’t not be Elmer’s team. I think Edler is the last contract standing that has Gillis’ signature on it.
Somewhere in NW BC trying (yet again) to trade a(nother) Swede…..

Bonino was not moved for picks. Garrison was and then the pick was puked away for a horrible three year AHL veteran.Kassian the addict was moved WITH a pick for a cancerous horrible player who was a poor teammate and example for the kids.

Clearing out the garbage isn't always pretty, but the garbage had to go.

Many of those early moves can be classified as “garbage out, garbage in”. The rebuild on the fly didn’t work.

Bonino was here for one year. I had no problem trading him down the road. Sutter was a poor target. The fact a 2nd has to be puked into the deal was asinine. Sutter was a worse player on a higher ticket. HE should have had the 3rd attached to him. The 2nd should have remained here.

It’s tough getting non-garbage for garbage

In fact - Benning did quite marvellously with garbage like Lack (Calgary’s current coach when in Carolina called him the worst goalie in the NHL, and Garrison The Big Chill

He had to beg Montreal to take Gillis’ coke machine off his hands - “the answer to Lucic” according to Aussie Rules Gillis

Headcase Kesler, the pending UFA names one team

Asset mismanagement
Will Lockwood not part of this asset mismanagement you speak of. You should talk to Pittsburgh about where their assets from that trade are now. Jimbro still has his.

Apparently, according to TSN, the Blackhawks are shopping Forsling. Forsling should seek Journeyman advice from Tweener McCann

A mere nine point pick upgrade was given up in the Sutter/Bonino trade (Canucks still got the player they wanted in the draft).

So for all intents and purposes, twas Bones straight up for Sutts.

Déjà vu again with Blobby.

Benning knew Sutter/Bonino would eventually have virtually the same contract (hell I predicted it myself) and now they do.

Sutter/Bonino don't add much offense at all, but at least Sutter is a great defensive player.

Twas jolly good asset mismanagement.

Bitch, bitch, bitch, bitch, bitch....

Even if that was the trade (it wasn’t), we had to sign Sutter immidiately after acquiring him (to a poor contract).

Why not just trade Bonino at the TDD for younger assets/picks? He was a productive 2C on a sweetheart deal. Given Benning’s draft prowess, surely this would’ve been a better approach...
