You said he set up 30 goals? How many of those 30 assists are where he set up the shooter (primary assist) and/or where he made a pass to the guy who set up the shooter (secondary assist)?Blob Mckenzie wrote: ↑Thu Nov 29, 2018 3:24 pmHow should I know?RoyalDude wrote: ↑Thu Nov 29, 2018 3:16 pmAll primary assists?Blob Mckenzie wrote: ↑Thu Nov 29, 2018 3:02 pmSpoken like someone who has never participated in team sports.

You're as nutty as a fruitcake if you are cheering for one of your precious young Leaves players to put up points in a contract year.
Every Leaf-hater out there is hoping Marner and Matthews light it up this season... and crash thereafter.
Trust me, I know how Leaf-haters think...

LOL. This isn't a 28 year-old suddenly having a career year before becoming UFA. He's 21 and put up 61 and 69 points his 1st 2 seasons with very limited TOI.Strangelove wrote: ↑Thu Nov 29, 2018 8:39 pmYou're as nutty as a fruitcake if you are cheering for one of your precious young Leaves players to put up points in a contract year.

You think Marner will go back to 69 points next season? LOL. He's a superstar and will be for years to come. This is his norm.
Marner was at a 90 point pace last season as soon as Babcock gave him better linemates and more TOI. This isn't exactly coming out of nowhere.

Have we ever figured out why Tuna hangs around here? Does he troll around the Habs site? The Red Wings site? I'm not sure why we bother to give him a soap-box.

You disagree that signing Marner last summer would have saved the Leaves million$ per year?BigTuna wrote: ↑Fri Nov 30, 2018 7:04 amLOL. Cuz that's the overwhelming consensus out there bro.
By "crash thereafter" I meant the haters are hoping the shrimp is hobbled by injuries after the new contract.

You are 100% correct but just today Marner's agent said they weren't interested in signing. Seems Toronto did try.Strangelove wrote: ↑Fri Nov 30, 2018 12:21 pmYou disagree that signing Marner last summer would have saved the Leaves million$ per year?BigTuna wrote: ↑Fri Nov 30, 2018 7:04 amLOL. And if you are Marner, why the heck would you? He had not yet played a single full season as a top 6 forward and knew he'd play with Tavares and get much more TOI. If there's one young forward who had no reason to sign, it was Marner.
It's wonderful to spin this as a huge Toronto blunder, but both parties have to agree and sign. Everyone but you saw this coming. What was it, Marner was too small, not very good and overrated you said?.
Toronto will sign him.
The most important thing is how great he is, not that he makes a couple million more than you originally thought.

Re: The Official CC "All Thing Leaves" thread
Because he knows injuries are just a matter of time.
He knows he's too small and frail for the NHL long-term.
But alas, he "wasn't interested in negotiating" with Kyle Lowball Dumass.
"We can and we will"... because we will force them to sign at a huge discount.
Marner figured if he put up huge points Dumass would have to back off of that stance.
No cap room for you. NEXT!!
