JB is a "Genius". 6th rounders are pure gold to the man with the Midas touch. Even 7th rounders should be sufficient to find diamonds in the rough for a man of his talent.
Facetiousness aside, I'd rather a 6th rounder than zilch - it's not a great return but it's a chance in the draft and the more chances the better, in my mind.

Re: The Rebuild...
Markstrom's big ear mask has been no where near Miller this season.
Hamhuis didn't demonstrate his recovery, remember he was shite before the injury, until a week before the deadline.
At bubbles 3 weeks, a 6th would have been fair value.

I'd do Miller, 50% retained, for a 2nd and a 4th to backup Quick in LA or Talbot in Edm.
Can always bring him back in the summer.

Hamhuis had a pedigree was an Olympian and a top pairing d man for the better part of a decade. Notice how much quicker he was signed than Russel and he also got substantially more money.Topper wrote:Markstrom's big ear mask has been no where near Miller this season.

Miller and Markstroms stats are pretty much flat.

Ya but would Edmonton or LA do that deal?
The only HW the Canucks need

We're not getting a good asset for $6M Miller. Playoff teams have decent goaltending.

Can't trade players with NTCs... if they don't want to be traded.Blob Mckenzie wrote: Hamhuis was cleared to play 3 weeks before the deadline. At that point Elmer should have went to him and seen if he would waive. Instead he waited until a few days before the deadline to ask him. Vrabta should have been playing with the twins for the balance of the year. The coach set him up to fail similar to what he is doing to Loui this year. Take the coach aside and tell him to build up the asset. If he doesn't listen fire his ass.

Vrbata's wife was expecting and Hamhuis always swore he'd retire a Canuck.
Chances are Jimmy knew they didn't want to be traded.

You're ASSuming these two would have been good with getting traded earlier.Island Nucklehead wrote: Throughout last season lots of posters mentioned they couldn't let Hamhuis or Vrbata walk for nothing. Re-up them, or trade them, a team as desperate for prospects/youth can't allow pending UFA's to walk for nothing.
Vrbata's poor season and Hamhuis' injury only underscore the danger of waiting until the last minute to make a decision.

Yes everyone is panicking.
More likely people are calling Elmer out for the buffoon he is. You having Ignitowski's back at every turn is kinda cute. Thing is your little theory doesn't add up to the smell test. He had no problem getting Bieksa ( I'm going down with the ship) or local boy Garrison to waive their NTC. I reiterate if he fucks the dog again he is done in Vancouver. I don't think we will see a repeat of last years shit show.

Dog will be completely satisfied if the Canucks win tonight. They will be close enough to the playoffs to go for them. Maybe a minor deal, Pedan or Subban, but core will likely stay. Of course, some "fans" heads will explode. Always good entertainment.Blob Mckenzie wrote:Yes everyone is panicking.![]()

The playoffs are a pipe dream Berry Picker and even if they did make it the only heads exploding would be the Canucks players from getting skullfucked in four games.Cherry Picker wrote:Dog will be completely satisfied if the Canucks win tonight. What's good entertainment is the mental gymnastics that some posters will go through to protect Ignitowski at all costs.

I doubt Edmonton does a deal for a goaltender like Miller.Hockey Widow wrote:Island Nucklehead wrote:I'd do Miller, 50% retained, for a 2nd and a 4th to backup Quick in LA or Talbot in Edm.

Among goaltenders with 30 or more GP, Miller is 9th in SV% and 17th in GAA. Talbot is 6th and 9th, respectively. Bringing in Miller sends a subconscious message to Talbot that they don't think he's a lock to get the job done in the playoffs.....no matter how they spin it, that perception is there. Considering that this is Talbot's first year as a starter, in which he has good numbers and a winning record, it would be a bad move to screw with his confidence. Goalies have a funny way of affecting team chemistry when they aren't in a good head-space.
LA, on the other hand, has Budaj playing extremely well in relief of the injured Quick. IF Quick comes back, he's solid enough in his career that he would not be phased in the least by the addition of Miller for the remainder of the season and playoffs. Miller would be a happy family man and probably find himself in a good place both on and off the ice. It's a good fit. But the price might not be right for LA. If Quick suffers another setback, I would fully expect to see Miller land in LA for the rest of the season.
If the Kings do see this as one of their last years to load up and go for it all, then Burrows may be a better fit than Miller for them.

You underestimate how fatalistic and immune to disappointment most long-term Canuck fans have become, but no matter how remote we have a core principle no one has been able to motify - irrational hope.
