Re: The Official CC "All Thing Leaves" thread
He still wasn't one of the best players even when he was among the league leaders in points . His play on his own side of centre has been brutal his entire career .

Re: The Official CC "All Thing Leaves" thread
People concentrate on defense too much. Scoring is in the toilet. That said, he has stopped scoring so he clearly is not a top forward.Blob Mckenzie wrote:He still wasn't one of the best players even when he was among the league leaders in points . Bernier the great is being shopped.

Over the Internet, you can pretend to be anyone or anything.
I'm amazed that so many people choose to be complete twats.

Rumsfeld wrote:I wonder if Tuna still thinks Kessel is one of the best forwards in the league.
Ummm, Rummy, Kessel is no longer a member of the leaves. Why would Tuna think Kessel was any good any more? Fans like Tuna, the brainwashed walking fallen leaves are programmed to thinking all leaves are good. Non-leaves are bad. He will find a way to justify is past position.
The only HW the Canucks need
Re: The Official CC "All Thing Leaves" thread
You can't deny, though, that $1.2m for Kessel is a bargain.

Then why was Kessel so hated his 6 years in Toronto?Hockey Widow wrote:Rumsfeld wrote:I wonder if Tuna still thinks Kessel is one of the best forwards in the league.

Re: The Official CC "All Thing Leaves" thread
It's just the same fucking thing over and over again with Tuna.
We get it. The peanut gallery in Toronto turns on players. Phil Kessel, Dion Phanuef. Kris Versteeg. Whoever else.
Just because these players got trashed eventually doesn't mean there aren't five million homers - some of them in high level media positions, others in those positions know to whom they are catering (Doc
) - in the GTA who drastically overrated them before that.
Why was Kessel so hated in Toronto? Because the team gave up a future superstar for a hyped up sniper who plays in half the rink, the leaves fan base (being a sports team fan base and composed mostly of morons) bought it all, then the team built nothing around him and were amazingly not very successful as a result.

That's just it...Burke tried to hit a home run before they were ready, and that cost them...dbr wrote: Why was Kessel so hated in Toronto? Kessel was the leading scorer for the leaves by a wide margin every year he was there, but they had nothing else and the fans blamed Kessel.
IMO, same thing will happen with Stamkos if he signs with TO...team is not ready for him, if they bring him on at 10+ mil and they don't have any success, he'll become the scapegoat for that sorry excuse of a team.
Re: The Official CC "All Thing Leaves" thread
The leaves have a lot more for Stamkos to work with than Kessel ever did. Most likely the leaves will have 2 top 10 NHL prospects to play with him next season.(Yes, every list has Marner/Nylander in the top 10) plus that top 5 this June.

Oh come on, you named yourself after Phil "Big Tuna" Kessel!!BigTuna wrote:Then why was Kessel so hated his 6 years in Toronto?Hockey Widow wrote:Rumsfeld wrote:I wonder if Tuna still thinks Kessel is one of the best forwards in the league.

He got that nickname after doing a series of tuna commercials in Pigtown.
Stamkos will re-sign with Tampa.
Pipsqueaks Marner and Nylander (along with Rielly) are the only hope for the future of the Leaves.
It won't be enough of course...

Not for what they are offering. It's almost February. If he was going to sign it would have happened.Strangelove wrote:Oh come on, you named yourself after Phil "Big Tuna" Kessel!!BigTuna wrote:Then why was Kessel so hated his 6 years in Toronto?Hockey Widow wrote:Rumsfeld wrote:I wonder if Tuna still thinks Kessel is one of the best forwards in the league.

Money is the most important thing. It's not like he can join LA or Chicago to go for a cup. The contenders don't have the $.Strangelove wrote:Wrong.BigTuna wrote:If he was going to sign it would have happened.

He'll get 10 million per minimum. That means he isn't joining a current contender.
