That's not what I think when I read (roughly paraphrasing) "three years and over $9m in salary."
Normally I would have never thought for a second Simmons meant $9M-per rather than $3M-per.

And then Bob McKenzie said The Cock is getting $8M-per for the next 3 years...

https://twitter.com/TSNBobMcKenzie/stat ... 3711049728

.... and yeah, it blew my mind!

Okay, I get it, Simmons meant $3M-per.

Same as he was making as GM in Jersey.

I guess he was so pissed at being pushed out of the GM chair (into the "president" chair)

.... that team-first Lou was willing to jump ship after all those years.

I thought the motive must've been 'money'... but twas 'control'.

No doubt he will have plenty of control over the green Shanny/Dubas/Hunter then.

Yeah I think it's gonna play out like Senator Palpatine's rise in Star Wars

.... climaxing with an epic encounter with Darth Shanahan.

Here's how it now looks to me then...

Lamoriello.... $3M.
Shanahan......$2.5M.
Dubas...........$1M.
Hunter..........$1M

Now that brother Tod has left the Lightning to take the COO job with the NFL and John Collins has turned down the job, Tim Leiweke looks to be sticking around MLSE for another year.

Greatest wanna be blogger comment on the Lou hiring, paraphrased of course:

"If they have hired Lou Lamoriello to be in charge and not a figure head then that's stupid because all of the hard work and good moves and things they have done over the last few months to make them the most interesting and most progressive team in the NHL will be down the drain."

Ya, OK then....moving right along.

When said salaries become completely insane.
BigTuna wrote: And Babcock's 50 million got massive press BTW and still is.
See? :mex:

The silence is deafening on Lou's $9M+ salary though.

Lou will make more money in the next 3 years than he did in the last 30.

"Love of money is the root of all evil" they say.

Lou served the Devils for decades, now he serves... the Devil.

First time ever!

(or you would have proven otherwise a loooong time ago)

You've gotta admit, Simmons did not word it well and...

any team that pays their coach $8M-per over the next 3 years is nutty enough to pay their GM $9M-per!

(actually, doesn't the GM always make more than the coach?) :eh:

Okay, I should have known better than to apply logic to the Leaves...

Anyhoo, the underlying points of my argument remain true:

1). Lou now serves the Devil.

2). Lou is the highest-paid executive of the Toronto Maple Devils.

3). Lou is the boss of everyone at the Centre of the Universe except "coach-who-cannot-be-fired".

4). The Leaves will completely suck for the foreseeable future.

5). Fireworks will ensue.

Yup, Lou is the new Nero and Pigtown will burn baby burn!!! :rockin:

Sued by former employee

The Associated Press reported that Lamoriello was sued in January 2015 by a former Prudential Center executive, who alleged that Lamoriello falsely accused him of running the New Jersey arena poorly.

Rich Krezwick’s $2.3 million suit also alleged that Lamoriello was “smiling and laughing” when his replacement was announced, and had threatened to quit if Krezwick was not fired.

Lamoriello physically positioned himself in a chair at the base of the employee elevator of the [Prudential Center] so that he could watch these individuals pass by with their boxes of personal belongings in order to leave the building directly after they were fired and to laugh as they passed by, as to take credit for their firing,” the lawsuit stated, according to local news website NorthJersey. com.
 :santa:

Gee I wonder why Lou was forced to step down as GM in Jersey....

Lou was pretty clear in his presser. He reports to Shanny.....everyone else reports to him, full autonomy.

Now Shanny is saying no, it's a team approach but Lou is the GM with full GM responsibilities. Kinda confusing which is why everyone in leavesville is all over the place.

And Doc, you were not the only one who read that Lou was getting 9 million per, it was all over the Internet. I got your back man!

Dreger is on suicide watch now. Lou's ship doesn't have loose lips. At least historically. He has been known to pull trades off the table if there are media leaks. Dreger may now have to admit he makes things up.

... which is why I couldn't resist stirring things up a bit over there lately.

I can't see any of the lily-livered green guys in the front office (Shanny/Hunter/Dubas) dare saying "no" to Lou.

The Cock though!!

Now that's another story!

Nature will take it's course, fireworks are a certainty, but the eastern media may not be able to wait.

The "rebuild" is going to be booooooriiiiiiing

.... at some point the TO media are going to pit The Lam and The Cock against each other.

For drama's sake!

It's gonna be Bedlamoriello in the Land of the Lamcock.

A Jersey article from this past December talking about how Lou is done-like-dinner.

In many ways Lou right now reminds me of Harold Ballard at that age.

Leaves hire Jacques Lemaire as a special assignments coach.

He'll be coaching the coaches.
