Russia is willing to discuss a temporary truce in Ukraine provided there is progress toward a final peace settlement, according to people familiar with the matter in Moscow.
Also the Russian spring/summer missile strike campaign for 2025 has begun in earnest, this time without advanced warning from the US surveillance system. Gas storage supplies are being targeted unlike in previous years when they were deliberately spared. Fun days ahead.
Alex Mercouris has questioned the legitimacy of Bloomberg's sources re a possible temporary ceasefire in Ukraine. He believes the contours of a ceasefire agreement was not discussed in the Riyadh talks. He thinks that this was further work to reopen diplomatic relations between the US and Russia. The Americans have been pushing for a ceasefire but the Russians have categarically rejected the idea so far. I personally expect the Russians to hold to their position on this issue.
