I know you moved on from his a couple of seasons ago, but I'm not there yet.

I"m not sure what it will take, or when I get to that point, but I hope for the sake of the franchise it doesn't come.

I would say that Pettersson for Fantilli and a 3rd would Be fair.Raile wrote: ↑Fri Nov 01, 2024 9:30 amIf we decide to trade Petey it's because he never got out of this funk by the time of the trade, and so I would be quite surprised if anyone is giving up those kind of assets for a player who is on 11.6x8 and isn't living up to it. We'd be making a trade first and foremost to get out of that contract.theman wrote: ↑Thu Oct 31, 2024 5:10 pm
Agree. I would probably give it until TDL, if he hasn't sorted itself out I would try to trade him (lay the ground work a few weeks earlier) while other teams think he just needs a change of scenery too and would be willing to go all in to get him.
Below is just and example of a trade:
To Columbus: Petey
To Vancouver: Fantilli, '25 1st, high mid round pick (2nd/3rd), Decent forward and/or 2nd pairing D.
Using Columbus as an example here as they have a lot of cap space now and would probably want to get there hands on a potential franchise player they could market the hell out of for their fan base.
And if we aren't getting a 1st line center back in return, we might as well start the rebuild again. We have no centers in the system anywhere close to 1st line franchise. Miller might not be good enough this year to be a top line center on a true playoff contender, never mind for years to come.
He’s 25. You either move on now or it will be way harder later. First, There is still good value in the player so long as people believe a change of scenery will reset him. Second, he does not have any trade protection this season, the Canucks can shop him to 31 suitors without needing his permission.
One word. Potential.... can you answer why you’re so attached to this player?
If it were easy, everyone would be doing it!

Stick with it brah, it builds character...
Potential is something that you should be looking at in an 18-22 year old prospect, not a 25 year old that you just inked to a contract like this.
He's more than your average, every day talent. His ceiling is stratospheric. He lays down 100 points seasons even while grossly underperforming for 1/3 of it.
He has laid down ONE season at 100 points.Cousin Strawberry wrote: ↑Fri Nov 01, 2024 9:55 pmHe's more than your average, every day talent. His ceiling is stratospheric. He lays down 100 points seasons even while grossly underperforming for 1/3 of it.
I should say so.
