However, most of what he is doing is pulling American support from the global situation. He has said since the campaign trail that America needs to stop being the World's police force and stop spending money to support nations that don't want to invest in their own protection. That's a good thing. An independently strong Europe, so long as they are not hostile towards the US, is a good thing for America. A strong Canada, same story. Combine those two things and you have a strong NATO even without the US. If the NATO members all invest like they should, then America staying makes it an alliance that the rest of the world basically gets told: Fuck around and find out.

People are shocked today that Trump is betraying Ukraine, he's betraying Europe, he's siding with Putin. Well, he did it as early as 1987, when he was starting to run for the presidency in 1988. And that is very well documented, it was printed in the NYT.

It's exactly the foreign policy he is acting out today that is so horrifying. This is the end of NATO, it's the end of the Western alliance. Trump is allying with Vladimir Putin, and against Ukraine and all of Western Europe.

Threatening to annex Greenland, the Panama Canal and Canada.
Voting against the UN resolution condemning Russia’s invasion.
Starting trade wars with Canada, Mexico and the EU.
Negotiating with Putin about the future of Europe without Ukraine or the EU being present.
The bullying of Zelensky in the Oval office in front of rolling cameras.

The rest of the free world has gotten the memo and are now starting to distance themselves from him.
