My point was, did he actually get his dinga linged or was it near the area and he made a bigger show of it? I'm sure one of the officials saw whether it really happened or not.JelloPuddingPop wrote: ↑Tue Feb 04, 2025 9:41 pmNot sure you can call it a flop when you get the Ol' Dingaling.
That smarts. Take a moment.
Either way, you don't want to gain a reputation.
Well earned win by Demko and the team to stay structured and frustrate Mackinnon, Makar and co.

He he skated dtrectly in front of an already pissed off Myles Wood and sure enough Wood took the bait and poked him and Karlsson dropped like two hundred pounds of steer manure in a bag. If Karlsson sticks around the players and referees will catch on to him but for now it works like a charm. I've seen enraged goons chasing him around in the AHL. He's a natural as an agitator.Carl Yagro wrote: ↑Tue Feb 04, 2025 9:46 pmMy point was, did he actually get his dinga linged or was it near the area and he made a bigger show of it? This line-up without Deharnais, Friedman, or Juulsen is going to be much better at holding onto leads.
Who will Tocchet sit when Hughes returns Soucy, Forbort, or DPetey?
Nice win, hopefully the start of a hot streak for Demko.

I really don't see enough in that kid's game, that he'll have a chance to gain any NHL reputation. AHL, sure. But who cares.Carl Yagro wrote: ↑Tue Feb 04, 2025 9:46 pmMy point was, did he actually get his dinga linged or was it near the area and he made a bigger show of it? Either way. Helped Van hang onto a lead, I'll take it!

Nice to see Hughes matching Makar in points tonight.

Great to shut Makar down too.

D Petey very impressive tonight. He's not afraid to play physical, and he's not afraid to scrum or come to the defense of a teammate. There is no finding Nemo in his game.
The defense is miles better at moving the puck with this deployment. When Hughes returns (and I'd consider sitting him for the last couple of games if he is insisting upon participating in the 4 Nations sideshow) this defense should be very tough to hem in.
We really are lacking a game breaker up front. I though 40 had a decent game, but he was never a threat to score, and the only time he was able to control the puck was on the man-advantage. Got plastered to the wall a ton at 5-on-5. If he's not going to shoot, then just park him on the bench and put Sherwood out there to rifle pucks (dude has a good shot).
We can only hope that Demko is back and not going to be trying to find his game again on Thursday in San Jose. Tocchet should give Demmer the last couple of games before the break.

Somewhere in NW BC trying (yet again) to trade a(nother) Swede…..

I'd like to see Mancini get a couple of games to see what we have in him. But I liked the deployment tonight. When Hughes is back I think they send D Petey down again. Soucy looked good on the right side and Forbert is ok as a bottom pairing guy. You go with experience until you don't.
Hughes, M Pettersson, Forbert
Hronik, Myers, Soucy
Keeps Juulsen in the press box.
In two games I have been impressed with M Pettersson. I will admit I didn't know a lot about him, only that the Canucks coveted him. He has to be a priority to sign before July 1.

An injection of speed from several new players really highlights just how slow we were. Another aspect of the Miller trade we shouldn't overlook, as he ages and not getting any quicker himself.
Still incredibly discouraged with the lack of difference-makers up front. Not sure I can get used to it but we may not have a choice. Gonna be ugly watching 2-1 games for God knows how long.
What's really noticeable is the new D, and we still have yet to see it with Hughes. Haven't seen puck moving beyond the first pair for 50+ games...refreshing, forgot what it was like.
D-Petey already the most Canadian Swede we've had since Ohlund (honorables to Edler in early years). Love seeing a young Euro not only unafraid of physicality but dishing it. Kid already looks meaner than big Vinny.

DPetey is having one of the most surprising homegrown rookie defensemen introductions since Chris Tanev “could have played with a cigarette in his mouth.” I don’t know how Tocchet can take him out of the line up, but he probably will.
I’m really impressed with the way this defensive core is shaping up.
It has needed to be rebuilt for years. And it looks like that is finally happening.
It could be one of the best in the league very soon.
Haven’t said that since…. ummm…. forever.
I wouldn’t rush to trade Soucy just for draft picks right now, but maybe for an impactful forward. He looks fine on the right side paired with the rookie, and the team will need defensive depth if they make the playoffs. They can trade him in the summer when his full NTC expires.
If he’s their seventh D, that’s pretty impressive… and he might be their eighth, once Willander signs.
This is beginning to look like a championship defence, with the potential to three-Pete.
