I am not sure if this is hot air, or intimidation as part of typical Trump negotiation tactics, or just throwing spaghetti against the wall to see if something good comes out of it. Whatever it is, it seems Trump loves chaos and doesn't stick to conventional wisdom that reliability and predictability from the Executive is a good thing.

Critics wouldn't argue that any gain would be short-term at the expense of the erosion of bilateral alliances built over decades. Isn't the US going to need those alliances in the future?
Is the US going to stand up to China alone?
