Well, it’s the so called - “metro dwellers “ who are the ones paying out of pocket to keep hick living operational. Do you think a town of 100 people is paying for their civil services? lol. Give me a break.Cousin Strawberry wrote: ↑Fri Dec 27, 2024 10:05 am Living in the monkey-hive has made you angry Chefferson Starship
Not every rural person is a hillbilly - just like not everyone that is a metro dweller is smart - you being a perfect example of thatChef Boi RD wrote: ↑Fri Dec 27, 2024 7:13 amMetro dwellers? Then we can become an exporting province and let the leftists loving metro dwellers figure out where they are going to get their materials.
I’ll qualify that equal investment needs to go into refining and manufacturing. It’s stupid to sell the raw materials only to have the final product sold back to you at a mark up.

Rural folk pay a disproportionately high amount property tax for the level of service they glean from the system.Chef Boi RD wrote: ↑Fri Dec 27, 2024 10:11 amWell, it’s the so called - “metro dwellers “ who are the ones paying out of pocket to keep hick living operational. However, I agree, Vancouver sold out, shoulda kept our mouths shut starting with Expo 86, the root cause of it all, then the Olympics, then opening up our borders without an infrastructure to support it. But that’s a different discussion.

Those of us that live in the county, have no sewer, water, trash, zero emergency services that can respond in a timely manner, very limited local health care. Basically roads and schools.
Jethro doesn't lean on the emergency services because he just rubs some dirt on it and gets back to work.Chef Boi RD wrote: ↑Fri Dec 27, 2024 12:15 pm We a are running expensive emergency rooms among other essential services in small towns so Jethro can take a piss outside on his 700 acres, FFS.
True the roads need grading after snow and once or twice in the summer but this and schools are basically all we were gaining from living remote.5thhorseman wrote: ↑Fri Dec 27, 2024 12:39 pm Municipalities may not provide water, sewer, or garbage pickup for rural residents, but they also maintain a lot more roads and ditches for them. The same goes for hydro, phone, cable, gas ... there's a lot more infrastructure to maintain per household for rural residents than city folks.
Some municipalities provide discounts if you don't get some services. I don't pay for garbage pickup in my property tax.
Also if you are a rural property owner you'll get a higher Homeowner Grant and you can massively reduce your property tax if you claim farm status.
Taking all that into consideration I think you get more if you are a rural property owner.
