Didn't realize such a to do would arise about Himmler.

100% agree. Both of their games have gone for shit.JelloPuddingPop wrote: ↑Thu Nov 13, 2025 2:25 pmAnd it seems he misses his ol' Pal Petey - playing disgruntled and inconsistent in NY as well. 4 goals, 8pts on the season.Mëds wrote: ↑Thu Nov 13, 2025 2:21 pmInjuries are a factor, for sure.
But the 1C position is a mess of their own making. When JT was traded he had 35 points in 40 games while playing disgruntled and inconsistently engaged.
The situation didn’t manifest overnight, management (maybe ownership) allowed this to happen via inaction.
They were better together. Mgmt should have forked out for couples therapy or something. Hypnotism? Religious studies? Try something more than just a few meetings.
How JR or whoever made the call that 1)the situation was unworkable and one of them had to be moved
2) replacing a top 6 center with a second pairing defenseman was a good idea
Needs to be held accountable in this mess.
Throw in the premature Silovs trade when everyone knew Demkos health would be questionable.

That would be the end of the Third Reichel...

Re: Canucks News N Notes 25-26
You had to know that they knew about the situation with Miller and whomever long before it disitergarated into what it became. Maybe because of the one successful season they fooled themselves into thinking it was manageable. I wonder how much of Pettersson getting 11.6 bugged the hell out of JT. Maybe that was the straw that broke his back.
But whatever, we know by reports from past players JT's personality was a potential problem. Let's not forget the alleged rift between him and Bo. But I also recall throughout this that the majority of fans wanted no part of a JT trade. It was painful to see Bo exit the way it happened but most of us felt comfortable that JT was the player to keep. I think most would have been ok from moving on from Pettersson and building around JT. The problem though is that it wasn't just Pettersson he rubbed the wrong way. So one could presumably extrapolate that they problems would persist but with different players. In hindsight they should have sold higher on JT when they could have traded him to any number of teams. I doubt the fan base would have approved of that type of move back when it was all happening though. Hindsight is a wonderful tool.
The long and short of it is that management messed up. They need to be held to account for how this all unfolded. I'd love to know if Chytle was the only option from NYR. Could they have instead got a 2nd 1st? It was stupid to take him back in a trade with his injury history. I don't mind flipping the first for Pettersson and O'Conner. They were also able to ship out some mistakes in that trade. But another option was needed to find that top six centre.
I understand they were close to flipping Chyle at the TDD to Ottawa for Norris. Rumour has it anyway. He has his own injury history to deal with but it might have been a good option. Who knows what else would have been involved in a deal like that? I also advocated for trading Demko, who they would have gotten a much better return than they did for Silovs.
I am very tired of the same old, same old. I think I am up for a rebuild. I know what that means, what it entails, but I am so tired of this. Keep the young kids and make everyone else expendable, including Hughes.

I keep Hughes if he’ll sign a long term deal. Trading him is a July decision. I don’t see a full rebuild being in the cards, but a retool and an accumulation of picks and prospects should happen if the team stays in their current place in the standings. There are lots of players to move on from at the trade deadline, but some have NMC to work around. DeBrusk, Kane, Myers, Sherwood and Lankinen should bring back some decent picks and prospects. That’s where I’d start. Sherwood is a loss, but I wouldn’t want to pay him the raise he’ll command this summer. M.Petterson back to Pittsburg makes some sense if both teams maintain their current places in the standings. Bigger decisions like Hronek and Boeser could be made, but I expect management would need to be replaced or the team sold before that would happens.

If the season continues like this, in which I am under no allusion that it won’t, they need to take advantage of the 2026 draft class and be sellers. Stop hanging on for dear life, stop fooling yourselves. We have the 5th worst record in the NHL with just a couple games away from the quarter pole on the season.
Potential sale items:
Sherwood
Lankinen
DeBrusk
Kane
M. Pettersson
Garland
Myers
Assess where Quinn’s head is at at season’s end

If Jersey offers Nemec, a promising young C and at least 2 x 1st RPs then thats one you can't say no to. We need to rebuild. QH is a phenomenal defenseman but the rest of the team is not
