Sure, but Tkachuk was ranked higher - if someone falls to you in the draft, you take em. BPA.
I suspect the Canucks management group were smelling character flaws that might indicate a propensity to bolt for sunny shores the first chance he got!
Character flaws? You mean like he wasn't a nice guy like Linden?

I have no doubt M. Tkachuk would’ve bolted for America if we had drafted him. The Tkachuk’s are red white and blue to the bone. I’d be surprised if Brady stays a Senator for long. But at least, ifvwe had drafted Matthew we would’ve gotten some kind of asset in return. Or would we?

Also, it wasn’t just the Canucks who had Juolevi as high as we did. The Flames were prepared to draft Juolevi after us. Also, the Canucks had just drafted two wingers in the previous two first rounds prior to 2016. Plus most everyone agreed with the pick. The last time we drafted a defenceman in the first round prior to 2016 was on Luc Bourdon way back.

Yeah, Jello Bud, Chef disagrees with you big time. The heart of that Devils cup winning line up in 2003 was defence and goaltending, as it always was. I will even go as far as saying our current forward group with the best version of Pettersson can match that forward group. I’ll take the best version of Petey over Elias 8 days a week.

The key trifecta is:

Hughes, Hronek and Demko

Vs

Neidermeyer, Stevens and Brodeur

Unfortunately for us, the Devils win in that department. If Willander pans out as we all hope and Elias D Pettersson continues to impress, throw in M. Pettersson, the two defences “overall” could be on par with each, that is if the two kids keep impressing. Although Rafalski and Daneyko were pretty damn good.
The 2003 roster certainly didn't have the "star power" as the earlier win - but their average point totals were all mostly higher than anyone (other than Petey) on the current Canucks forward roster - and this is during the dead puck era, on a Lemaire trap-team. (Though you can argue that Toc's system isn't much better)

The proof is in the pudding Pal - they won a cup.

If the Defense/goaltending is even close to "on par" - wouldn't Vancouver at least made the playoffs?

Or are you saying we are close? Because I can get behind that :D

RE: MT - you still take him, BPA - he becomes an asset, even if he wants a trade.

Calgary got a couple of good pieces for him.

What did Van get for Olli? Tops' favorite player and Lammiko?

His dad zamboni'd TL16...that shit doesn't just go away

Linden should've relished a chance to sit in front of his bully. Walt turned into Philadelphia Collins while TL is a svelt fitness freak at age 55

Chantal is Canadian. Brady signed an eight year ticket in Ottawa. You're out to lunch.

Juolevi has the compete of an aphid. Elmo telegraphed that he was taking a D man well ahead of the draft. Sergachev, Chychrun and McEvoy were all similarly rated to Razor Thin Olaf: Elmo shit his diaper.

I know one of Chantal’s cousins on her Italian side, he lives in Vancouver. They are a very proud Canadian family out of Manitoba, however she seems to have converted to the dark side.
