Yeah. They got worked by the Sabers in the 3rd period. No finish.

Looked like a couple of cleanly lost defensive zone draws did all the damage needed.

Bingo, Bongo, Toilet-bound Luongo.

While the D didn't look horrible tonight, their puck movement out of the zone was the opposite of playing fast. Even when forwards received passes in the neutral zone, they instantly have Sabres in their hip pockets to slow down zone entry and allow them to impede enough where there wasn't really much forechecking. Once again, this is a big part of this season's decline.

Buffalo may currently hold the 3rd worst record in the league but they are by far a deeper team, talent wise, than the Canucks, but can they find the tool shed for all their tools is the question. If I’m Sabre management, patience is key, they are very deep in talent.

Looks like we are back on the 'trade everyone' part of the season.

I was debating purchasing Sportsnet + annual subscription ($250) but that's good I didn't. Would get the Canuck games plus the English Premiership and URC (Rugby) as I am more of a rugby fan than hockey fan but still debating it.

Buffalo is a case-in-point example of why culture is so important, and why you have to identify culture carriers on the roster.

The Sabres are 7-6-1 in their past 13 games a vast upgrade following their 13 game losing streak.

This includes wins over the Caps, Blues l, Hurricanes, a hot at the time Sens team amd an OT loss to the Avs.

Their overall record does not speak to current performance levels.

I was quite impressed with their tenacity and speed on the forecheck. Their D gambles a little too often which won't fare well once teams buckle down but overall they're a much better crew than their record would indicate

Byram is a legit star IMHO. If you could swing Cozens and Byram for Pettersson I would pull that trigger (only if it meant Miller wants to stay aboard)

I was also surprised how much better Austin Powers is compared to the last time I saw him

And Buffalo takes on Pettersson's full cap hit, no retention.

Watched some of it later and I noticed in the first period, Byram was constantly up in the play as the trailer, getting some prime scoring chances on Demko. Didn't see him get in trouble getting back into his own zone on transition as the Canucks were simply too slow to give them any issues.

Power seems slow... is he just not a very fast skater or was his quick, high IQ mind just surveying the landscape? Either way he turned like a truck, yet held on and hit passes out of his zone consistently. This separates the big slugs from the high-end guys. I dare say there were instances that Desharnais looked more mobile and faster, but you cannot say Desharnais or Forbort is anywhere close in the same league... except for physicality. Power is fairly low in that department.

Given the concerns with EPs game, I'd consider a small retention if it meant they can move on while getting back good young assets in BB and DC

The guy is a legit top end talent but there's something fucky

Power was compared to Hedman on draft day and I might tend to agree now. Both are huge but not particularly nasty while also being smart positionally.

I think Victor likely has the shot and didn't really see that from OP

How bad is the bug running through the team and who was/how many were playing while trying not to leave a plate of half digested nachos on the ice?
Over the Internet, you can pretend to be anyone or anything.

I'm amazed that so many people choose to be complete twats.

Blob McKenzie nailed it in his post game comment. These guys are all acting like a bunch of babies. It's disgraceful.

It's probably why we're punting Miller. He's a major part of whatever all this is despite being our best forward. He's a broken toy
