Do we really have to talk about the current team?

This thread wasn’t meant to be just about the Canucks. It’s the full league and all the tankers.

Sounds like the Flames have shipped out Rasmus Andersson to Vegas

According to Friedman, the return is:

Andersson to Vegas with 50 per cent retained

Return:

Whitecloud
2027 1st
2027 2nd, becomes a first if Vegas wins Cup this year
Abram Weibe, a defenceman at UND

Damn. Was hoping they would take their time - don't want them giving the Canucks a run for their money for last place! The Flames are genuinely terrible and I consider them the biggest threat to finishing last alongside the Blues. I was surprised how much love they got last year for their 'great' regular season - If I were a Flames fan I would be so pissed off by last year as they are in desperate need of a rebuild and cost themselves a much needed lottery pick.

Obviously the Canucks are in a similar boat but I think we had the advantage of more talent to deal with (at least 1 year ago it felt that way)>

That is a good haul for Conroy.

Especially having 2 extra picks in the opening rounds next year. If Vegas does win, I assume that 2027 2nd becomes a 2028 1st, and then Conroy has 2 1RP's in the next 3 drafts (2026 included). That is a nice setup for rebuilding.

The chance of multiple 1sts I like. My only gripe with the Hughes return was only 1 1st RP coming back, wish it was 2 - 2026 and 2027 in his return.

Relatively young Ex-NHL players with a lot less front-office experience, like Conroy & Guerin are doing way better than our two, old farts who have been living off past success for years.

Would another GM focus on getting us 2026 & 2027 1st round picks instead of focusing so much on young, under 25 prospects? Would that GM be able to extract that from the Wild? Could another GM do better than giving up a 1st round pick for Meaty & DOC?

Zero faith in these jokers being able to clean up their own mess.

I always thought Hughes should have been able to return 5 firsts

I meant getting more 1st round picks that we would use to pick our own players, not so much acquiring former 1st round picks. For the record, I love the Buium return.

I am happy with the players the Canucks got back for Hughes, just wish the Canucks got the Wild’s 2027 1st (or at least their 2nd) as well.

Andersson to Vegas for Whitecloud, 2027 1st, 2027 2nd that may become a 1st and Weibe (UND dman)
