FFS Corn, pay attention.

84 games this season.

FFS Mëds, learn to read more than a headline.

Good game. Hit all the right notes IMO.

Sherwood picking up where he left off. Maybe last year's production wasn't a fluke?

D-Petey's hit was a bit worse, but not by much and was essentially the same style of hit. Loved it, and just the kind of game I was hoping to see from the kid - quick, physical and effective with nothing too flashy.

Chytil is staking his claim to the 2C spot. You can tell he's worked on his shot and wants to show it off. Was responsible in the neutral and defensive zones. Maybe he's the answer???

Brick-Wall-Blocking Bains busted his ass off tonight. I was wondering about him, but he vindicated Foote tonight. Get him some better hands and he could be a poor-man's Burrows.

Petey didn't score but he looked engaged and effective out there even if he didn't produce. Hughes was a beauty to watch, especially in the 3rd.

Ummmmm.... I think Demko's back.... :look:

Opening night. Lack of precision everywhere. To be expected.

Canucks looked good when in their own zone, all lines. Demko was excellent.

Kane must have had 5 passes intercepted when passing back to the point. Overextended shifts. Awful first game, but it’s one game. Most impressive part of his game was that he bypassed big hit opportunities when he should have bypassed them. 4 on 4 — chose positioning over a hit. Last part of the 3rd, after Flames goal, didn’t risk penalties or another scrum, again choosing positioning. This sounds small, it’s not.

Bains flashed with the blocked shots on the pk and the pass breaking out Chytl, but he joined Kane as the worst Canuck on the ice in my view, though I think he was named one of the three stars. Multiple chances to get the puck out of the zone he failed, including the turnover that led to the only goal against.

Chytil’s goals were excellent. The rebound off Bahl’s head was lucky, but the move to the slot to create the shot was not luck. It was exactly the kind of play that exemplifies the best parts of his game — seeing the breakdowns (here, flames shell) to make plays that shouldn’t be there and having confidence in his size and hands to do it.

Loved Hronek & Garland. And EP2 could have gotten 5, but it’s good to have a defenseman who will build a “keep your head up” reputation. Just like his game.

And the Sushi and Boeser snipes. Goal scorer goals. Good to see.

Let’s start every season at home against a team on the back half of a back to back…..

It would seem that Blocker side on Wolf is the way to go…..those were both wicked shots though.

…with a roster 95% comprised of a who’s who of names that would be bottom-6 forwards and 4-6 defensemen, on good NHL teams, in front of a young goaltender who doesn’t have a NHL-ready backup.

Saw only the highlights of the goals this AM.

The shots on Chytil Boeser and Lekk tallies (as noted) were promising.

Cootes?

He was kinda invisible. But not in a bad way. Let's see how he is against Edmonton's bottom 6. I think he will look better on Saturday night.

I think he did have a deer-in-the-headlights first game. Understandable - the kid's been in a whirlwind since the draft. In light of that, not being noticeable either way is a good start.

Even if he improves the next couple of games, I think it's best-served for all if he goes back to the WHL once Bluegers gets back.

Made a couple of smooth passes in transition. Otherwise unnoticeable. Will have to do a lot more the next few games for it to make sense to develop in NHL.

I actually thought he played well for his first NHL game. He was well positioned and knew his assignment. Didn’t see the offence from him yet but he is showing some hockey IQ. Will he stay past 9 games, I don’t think so but he has a few more games to show his stuff.

Definitely. If he continues that level of play he should get on the bus to Seattle ASAP. Fucking with his development serves no purpose

This observation has me perplexed.

He keeps up to the pace. Made some smart but safe plays with the puck and was never out of position. And he won some draws.

Sending him back to the dub would be a complete waste of his time.

I tend to agree at this point more with 360… he appears to be able to handle the pressure mentally.

If he can do it let him…. Fuck burning a year!

Still 8 games to see…

So many promising young talents are ruined by rushing them into the NHL.

Send him back to dominate the W, hone his talents, lead canada to wjc gold…the proven path to greatness.

He is good enough to hold his own but is a lightweight kid who isn’t ready to compete physically just quite yet. His game is advanced enough where he’s already showing promise…let him steep
