Nah.
What a downer of a post.donlever wrote: ↑Thu Oct 09, 2025 11:17 am I will take this oppportuntiy to remind the site that the Dude rotary dialed Loopy back in the day.
So back to hockey...not digging Bains on the second line one bit.
Bains Chytil Garland does not whisper top 6 let alone scream it.
A bit troubled over that...

Management will get a close up view on Saturday.
The important signings were Ekholm (3 ys/$4M AAV) and Walman (7 ys/$7M AAV)...
Holding serve -- or worse given ages -- is strange. The Oilers defense is suboptimal...
As I said elsewhere, in a hard cap league, very few get to ice a "complete" team.
I understand your post is predicated on Silovs turning out to be the real deal - but I think, if you are EDM, you aren't looking for another maybe in goal. You have a big maybe in Skinner already. Probably looking for a mid to sure thing. Couldn't find it. And went with what you know.Ronning's Ghost wrote: ↑Thu Oct 09, 2025 12:00 pm Some here have said that if Silovs turns out to be the real deal, the Canucks will regret letting him go, and they will -- though I think their options were quite limited. But if Silovs turns out to be the real deal, far greater will be the regret in Edmonton for not making an offer the Canucks would have been foolish to refuse. Since many of the fans of a franchise that has enjoyed little success of the past half-century seem to be driven largely by spite, that thought might comfort some of you.
Maybe the oil did ask about Silovs and the Canucks 'price' to trade him in division and with that added risk of him being 'the final piece of the puzzle' was just to high for the oil to pay?JelloPuddingPop wrote: ↑Thu Oct 09, 2025 1:10 pmI understand your post is predicated on Silovs turning out to be the real deal - but I think, if you are EDM, you aren't looking for another maybe in goal. Not sure they would have ever looked at giving the Canucks an offer for Silovs.
But, back to your point. Maybe they should have.
If they did. And he hit. And the won they cup though....![]()
I agree there would have been heck to pay if Silov's had hit and return was comparable to the trade they actually made; that's why I stipulated a deal that "would have been foolish to refuse". I suppose it also envisioned a goalie-whisperer in whom the Edmonton organization had confidence suggesting that the odds were good on Silovs (and he might still flame out; We don't know yet).theman wrote: ↑Thu Oct 09, 2025 1:16 pmMaybe the oil did ask about Silovs and the Canucks 'price' to trade him in division and with that added risk of him being 'the final piece of the puzzle' was just to high for the oil to pay?JelloPuddingPop wrote: ↑Thu Oct 09, 2025 1:10 pmI understand your post is predicated on Silovs turning out to be the real deal - but I think, if you are EDM, you aren't looking for another maybe in goal. Imagine if the Canucks traded Silovs to the oil for a comparable package (useless AHL player and a 4th round pick) and the oil went on to win the cup this season. The city of Vancouver would have had another riot on its hands.
quick review of the oil draft picks:
2025 NHL draft - highest pick they held was a 3rd round pick.
2026 NHL draft - 2nd round is the highest pick they currently hold.
2027 NHL draft - still have their first round pick.
It was reported that that did indeed happen. Edmonton asked, Vancouver said set the price and turned around and dealt him to Pittsburgh.theman wrote: ↑Thu Oct 09, 2025 1:16 pmMaybe the oil did ask about Silovs and the Canucks 'price' to trade him in division and with that added risk of him being 'the final piece of the puzzle' was just to high for the oil to pay?JelloPuddingPop wrote: ↑Thu Oct 09, 2025 1:10 pmI understand your post is predicated on Silovs turning out to be the real deal - but I think, if you are EDM, you aren't looking for another maybe in goal. Yeah...I already posted last week how I am more stoked for this season than any in 15 years (exclusive to me for various reasons).
