From what I am gathering, Silovs has one year left of waiver eligibility. He can also be offer sheeted. Realistically though the Canucks could match any reasonable offer or take the compensation if a team goes nuts.

Silovs was exposed by Edmonton. There are areas of his game he really needs to work on, he is still young enough and with Clark in our system he should be able to do this. The other news is that Sawchenko has advised the Canucks that he will test FA. So I guess it makes sense that they would prefer to have Silovs down in Abbotsford working on his game, while providing a tandem with Tolopilo.

I wasn't as impressed with Silovs as some others were. I mean I like the kid and think he did an outstanding job for us in difficult circumstances but Edmonton figured him out and exposed his weaknesses. I am still not sold that he will be an above average NHL starter any time soon, if ever. He may always be back up material.

The question is DeSmith. Is he out of joint about losing the net to Silovs? Was his injury status more complicated and is this why he didn't get the net back? Does he have realistic options moving on? I would be fine bringing him back on a one year deal. But would?

The Canucks seem intent on trying to bring him back or another vet of that ilk to be our backup so it seems they really do prefer Silovs in Abbotsford. Or who knows. Maybe they got a good offer for Silovs they would like to take.

Only $1.5 too high. Someone else should be making these over payments.

Is this the auterity learned from Mik anf Kuz? LOL

What will they give 20 goal scorer CoHog? An Uber to the airport I hope.
Jay Beagle and Antoine Roussel were quality signings around the same money. 😂😂😂😂

31 even strength points in 63 games. He's 28 and has low miles due to a 4 year college career after the leaves snubbed him finishing his junior career. He finishes his checks, can pk, and was on likely the best third line in hockey and will stick up for teammates.

We get it. Elmer was your guy. The hatred of the new administration is fascinating however.

Maybe reach out to Elmo's nephew the faux Canucks fan and see how he's making out. Dick Stinky or whatever his name was. 99% of the fans are stoked to have decent management for a change.

Go Canucks!

It's soon July so the festivities in Greenwood should be pretty lit, get out there and say hi to the Blackmores. Go for a dip in Christina Lake with your leather vest and have a bottle of moonshine with Jethro and Leon.

Happy Trudeau Day Topper you miserable old prick.,

Peace........ Hargraves is out. 😎
When you have a 28 year old, 6'3", 220 pound power forward who hits more than anyone, just scored 20, is solid on the PK and has great chemistry with another player on the team he's definitely worth keeping. I for one really like this signing as it means we really only need 1 more power forward type in the top 9 with JT and Dakota already there. If we lost Dakota we'd need 2 more and that's tough to find.

My favourite part of this new regime is nobody really knows anything until the official Canucks account tweets it out. Very few leaks unless it comes from the other side, even guys like Dhaliwal and Friedman don't seem to have much of an in.

Let's see what they are cooking for this weekend - I'm hoping for a scoring winger and a sizeable add on D. We'll know in a few days.

For me Silovs is Bobrovsky part 2 - he's great on close in low shots but can't seem to track shots from distance. He lets in point shots after making great saves on chances that look like tap-ins. I think Clark needs another year or so to get this figured out and then he'll be ready. I also wonder if there might be a good trade offer on the table for him as he's not really needed right now and his value is really high after his playoffs. Never count this management team out from doing something aggressive.

I also wonder why DeSmith would want to come back, perhaps he really liked the guys here? He lost his job in the playoffs to a 23 year old who had barely any NHL experience so you'd think he would move on. That said there's only 64 NHL goalie jobs so beggars can't be choosers.

That's just it, DeSmith will hardly be in high demand and he had a pretty good season here career wise.

I didn't really even consider the idea that he might not want to return.

Another couple stars on Joshua that I was unaware of…..

Even tho he missed 18 games due to a broken hand, he finished 9th in hits this year.

He also finished 3rd in hits in the playoffs despite the Canucks exiting in the 2nd round.

I’m happier with this signing. If Joshua, Blueger, and Garland, can repeat the chemistry and 3rd line production from last year, the Canucks could have a very strong top-9.

On Podkolzin…

Miller said last season that he liked having Pod on the line with him and Brock. Unless the plan for Podkolzin is to develop him into that role over the summer/pre-season he should be moved while there’s still some value there as I don’t see any value in him on a 4th line with Suter and Aman or Karlsson.

CoHog didn’t also bring 9th in total hits during the regular season in only 63 games, and then 3rd in the playoffs. CoHog also didn’t kill penalties.

I agree with you, CoHog can’t get any sort of overpayment. He either develops into Garland’s successor or they move on.

Yes, Silovs can be offersheeted.

Noted Canuck-hater Frank Seravalli made a point of broadcasting that fact to the world the other day

... and what a great move that would be for some team. :scowl:

But the reality is offersheets very rarely happen, so not much leverage at all there at all.

Fat Frank was banging the drum on that ridiculous Silovs buyout bullshit for a solid week actually.

Is there a bigger asshole in hockey media today?

For example: if someone signed him to a 2 mil aav, what would the Canucks compensation be?
